Stop wishing you were near the beach when you could be right on your own private beach. Enjoy spectacular views of Barnstable Harbor, Sandy Neck, the best sunsets on Cape Cod, and all the beautiful boats from your comfortable Adirondack chairs. Step off the backyard and take a swim, cast a fishing pole, collect shells or just stick your feet in the sand. Sit back in the evening on the screen porch as the sun goes down and watch the boats go by as the people end their day at Sandy Neck. Large outdoor gas grill for barbecuing lunch or cooking up that fish you caught during the day. Walk to the marina and enjoy whale watching, Charter boat fishing, Dining, or cocktails overlooking the harbor.
Take a short walk to Historic Barnstable Village and enjoy fine dining at the fabulous Dolphin Restaurant, The Barnstable Tavern, or breakfast at The Blue Plate Diner.
Cottage on Private Beach: There's no place like being on the water. Sail your boat up to the beach, no crowds, everything just steps away. For families with children it doesn't get any better. Need to replenish your margarita? No worries...the blender is within reach of the beach! This quaint little cottage is what the cape is all about. Knotty pine paneling and braided rugs over fir flooring adorn this little gem.
This is a wonderful cottage, small and reminiscent of a former time when vacations were more about family and enjoying the time away from work and school. The screened porch was perfect, how I wish we had more screened porches!! Located in a quiet neighborhood, not far from Barnstable Village Center, the cottage has a nice back lawn that overlooks the ocean. The sand is few steps away.Kitchen was well stocked, fabulous outdoor shower and wifi ( if you really need to work). We enjoyed take out from Osterville Fish Too (scrumptuous) and bought fish another night from their fish market, Took the Hyannis whale watch - boat is short walk from cottage - saw more than 30 whales - mostly humpbacks. Visted Long Bird Sanctuary, went to Dedham playhouse, Heritage Gardens in Sandwich, ferried to the Vineyard, played mini golf. Perfect week. Perfect location.
Front to back, the cottage was perfect!
Beds and linens were super comfy.
The kitchen was well stocked (ie; I brought a cork screw just in case, no need, there were already 2 in the draw) and roomy enough for 5 of us to be milling about at once. I especially loved the deco styled Kevlinator stove.
The bathroom was clean and bright although I never used the shower. I opted to use the outdoor shower instead.
The screened in porch was another bonus space, and I do mean bonus.
The location of the cottage can't be beat. You're within 10 mins to major stores/shopping but you would never know it whilst lounging at the house. The backyard is spacious and flat with soft grass. Not the crunchy prickly kind you sometimes find. Within 45 mins of our arrival to the Cottage, I said to my friend "This is the best money I've ever spent!".
The landlord, was gracious and accommodating from the very beginning of the rental process and even checked in w me after we left.
Very nice, really cute cozy cottage. Beautiful view of Barnstable Harbor. No a/c but fans and the week we went it wasn't particularly hot and muggy so worked out fine!
Would definately stay again, perfect for 2 or 3 people
This was a great spot for a family of 4 vacation. The cottage was perfect for screened in outdoor dinning watching the sunsets, coffee in the AM watching the sun rise, playing in the bay with the 1/4 mile low tide so that the kids see all kids of wildlife, and close to many attractions on the Cape. The cottage has all the basic ammentities you need and a nice personal touch with fresh hand picked flowers.
