September Haus sits on the hillside overlooking the stunning rugged coast and Pacific Ocean. Locals think we have the best weather here with our unique hillside micro-climate away from bluff-born winds and above the fog in the meadows. We have seen wildlife: deer, wild turkeys, foxes, rabbits, marveled at the hawks soaring overhead and the whales spouting during their migrating season. September Haus invites you to relax, meditate and reflect. Some guests come to write; others are inspired to paint the White Barn, a Sea Ranch landmark. Yet if you wish to be active, you may enjoy the many hiking trails to the bluff or into the forest starting from September Haus. Or you may walk on the beaches and explore the tide pools. Check out the many other activities listed below.
Activities (on site or nearby): Hike, bike, ride a horse, play tennis or golf the resort links; take a sauna and swim in one of the three heated pools (the Ohlson Rec center - is just a five minute walk from September Haus). Play basketball, volleyball; enjoy group yoga, go horseback riding, fishing, shelling, or wine tasting. There is a golf course and a landing strip. In Gualala, seven miles to the north, you will find grocery stores and many boutiques.
As we entered, my wife saw a wild turkey. It was an omen. We have had beautiful weather and have enjoyed exploring the area. Your house offers a perfect framing for our impressions on our first trip here. We would enjoy another stay. Thank you for making your home available.
PS. We so enjoyed the view from your LR windows. It is beyond price!
This house is really well furnished, immaculately clean and exactly as pictured. Sea Ranch is in a beautiful, wild location. There is not a lot to do except hike, golf and swim. That was fine with us-exactly what we wanted. Highway from San F. is sort of treacherous but beautiful best not to take it at night. No ambient lighting along this beautiful coastal property.
We spent a week in Sea Ranch at September Haus in August, and didn't want to leave. The house is so comfortable and simple and it really came to feel like home. The kitchen has everything needed for preparing meals. The wine left for us was a very hospitable note. The view of the ocean from the living room is unparalleled in beauty. We so enjoyed walking the trails that are accessible right from the house, from trails in the trees to trails right along the ocean. One would never even have to leave Sea Ranch. We left feeling relaxed and even pampered. We do plan to visit again, and will recommend this property to friends.
We are home from 10 wonderful days at Sea Ranch, so grateful for the beautiful home you provided us with. We needed to get away, and September Haus was the perfect spot: Well maintained, light and spacious, with a fully-stocked kitchen including a chilled bottle of wine in the refrigerator - thank you!
We spent endless hours on the upstairs porch gazing at the vast expanse of the Sea, all the way to the horizon. The weather was on our side, since we had loads of sun, a little fog,
but mostly splendid warm late-summer days. We were taken graciously taken in by the community there, taking full advantage of the rec center, where we played tennis most days.
One caution: we took Scaggs Road from 101 to Hwy 1 - it's what Google told us: consult the map before your trip, and look for the safest, easiest route, it may not be the shortest one...
I made a quick decision to stay at this rental. Was very easy to do with such short notice (hours). The kitchen was wonderful...beautiful dishes and everything you could possibly need to cook whatever you desired. Everything was nicely done. Was unable to get the music player (Bose) to work but that may have been my lack of knowledge. It would be nice to have more outside lighting to make getting into the house easier (I did not have a working flashlight; if I had it would have made getting into the house easier since it is very dark, which I did appreciate - one of the reasons for choosing an isolated rental. We stayed during the week so there was only one other place occupied in this area that I could tell. We liked that so if you are looking for a lot of peace and quiet this was perfect for us.
Out of all the Sea Ranch homes I've rented for vacation, this was my favorite. Although it's a longer walk to the beach from this hillside home, it's more than made up for by the amazing panoramic views of the meadows and beaches below.
Other big pluses:
- The kitchen is very well-stocked with all the cookware you might need (this is important because, if you haven't been to Sea Ranch before, you will be doing a lot of your own cooking).
- The master bathroom is like being in a resort spa.
- The deck off of the second bedroom provides a sweeping view of the ocean and is a great place for coffee.
- The house is very close to a trailhead that leads into a very beautiful redwood forest.
No downsides to report, aside from eventually having to leave!
We had a lovely time at the September Haus. The view is GREAT! Loved it. And it was very quiet. The deer walk right by the window, great sunrises and sunsets. The place is nicely updated and has everything you need for a getaway. It is very dark at night so I would suggest bringing a flashlight. We arrived after dark and was glad we had one with us. The place also has Wi-Fi. The owner was quick to answer any questions we had. We would stay there again.
