Overview

Granville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, sleeps 4-5

Located in the heart of the Green Mountains on ten acres. Mountain views and remote feel, but only 20 minutes from Warren/Waitsfield area or 10 minutes to Rochester. Ski or snowshoe out the back door or cozy up and watch movies on home theater with over 200 movies. New, with all the modern amenities, but done in classic cabin style. Enjoy walking/sledding on site or hiking the nearby Long Trail, then a relaxing hot tub under the stars. 15 mins to Middlebury Snow Bowl, 25 mins to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen or 45 to Killington. Great swimming, kayaking, etc. Perfect any season!

Size limitations: The cabin is 850 sq ft. so not designed for large groups. It is one large space downstairs and two separate bedrooms above. It has a much larger feel than it's size indicates however, due to a two story loft above. There is also a generously sized mud room/entry with a heated floor to dry out ski boots and stow gear. It is therefore best suited for couples or small families who are looking for a well designed and appointed quality cabin. Anyone looking for a traditional Vermont experience will certainly enjoy the areas offerings and the warmth and intimacy provided in the cabin.

4wd Car recommendation: It is recommended that you have a 4wd car or truck in the winter.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Jeff.

We can't thank you enough for providing us with lodging that is so comfortable and with such nice amenities. After playing tourist during our stay last summer, we stuck a bit closer to home this time. Highlights were finding the swimming holes at Warren Falls and across from Newtons, Sunset Hike and local farmer's markets. Everything we ventured out to do was great fun! Also, it was wonderful to have our dog, Ginger along. Thinking we are hearty Southerners, who have endured a terrifically hot summer thus far, we did not believe we would need the A/C in Vermont, but I must confess that we broke down and used it one evening. We were so thankful for it!

We really appreciate everything!

Wonderful Winter Retreat!

  • of 5

We enjoyed everything about our stay in your beautiful cabin. Inside, we found everything we needed. Outside was better than we could have expected. The wind was cold, but it didn't stop us from enjoying the beautiful property on our snowshoes. Games, hot tub and movies all made for conversations and family fun! Thanks again!

Perfectly cozy

  • of 5

Wow what an amazing week away we had at this charming cabin. We couldn't have picked a better week to enjoy all the winter activities Vermont offers. From snow shoeing out the back door to snowboarding at Sugarbush and cross-country skiing at Ole's which were both a short 20 minute drive away. And then home to a relaxing soak in the hot tub, warming up by the cozy fire, and cooking whatever our hearts desired with the well equipped kitchen.

The 2 bedrooms were comfortable and clean and a washer and dryer was a nice convenience. We really loved the heated floors in the mudroom to dry out our gear. Jeff the owner was very polite, helpful, and patient with us. He gave us some great tips on things to do and places to eat... American Flatbread is a must !

We highly recommend this cabin especially for 2 couples. Thanks again Jeff for sharing your charming home with us.

Perfectly Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

If you're anthing like us, every now and then you need to escape your crazy schedule and recharge your batteries - this is the perfect place for that. My husband and I had a very relaxing weekend. On the way up to the cabin it was snowing and we were quite happy that we had thought ahead and brought ingredients for dinner as it was the perfect night to stay in by the fire. The kitchen is set up well and easy to cook in. The hot tub was perfect and sitting in it while the snow was falling was absolutely the best.

Everything in the cabin is well thought out and it is extremely comfortable. We loved relaxing in the window seat. Everything is conveniently labeled, making electronics and appliances easy to operate. The binder full of local activity and restaurant suggestions is a nice touch. The owner is easy to deal with, prompt with instructions about the property - very professional.

The area is wonderfully scenic and we did venture out for a nice drive to Montpelier where we had delicious crepes at the Skinny Pancake. Also stopped in the Elusive Moose in nearby Waitsfield. The food was great and the people were extremely friendly.

All in all, this cabin is the perfect retreat if you are looking for a relaxing get away. It proved impossible to feel any stress at all while sitting in the hot tub and looking out at the beautiful scenery!

A Beautiful Getaway At A Gorgeous Property

  • 5 of 5

You'll have no regrets about booking this property for whatever your heart desires.

I was looking for a few days of relaxation with my husband and lab over the Thanksgiving holiday and got exactly that. However, there is much to see and do from skiing to swimming holes and whatever you can imagine in between for an activity filled getaway. This property serves as a great base to many attractions.

The cabin itself is beautiful and full of character. There was no skimping on quality materials when putting this cabin together and one can really appreciate how it fits into its natural surroundings.

The owners have thought of everything that make this cabin a destination on its own. They have snowshoes available for borrowing and pieces of hunters orange to put on for outdoor wandering to keep yourself and your canine safe. The hot tub is very clean and the placement of it is so nice and close to the cabin. What a treat. The outdoor grill was great for when we'd filled up on too much turkey and needed steak & burgers! The projection screen - first I'd ever seen, was great! I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade on it and felt like I was there myself! Also - a great DVD selection if feeling like a movie.

There is a perfect handful of quality cutlery and utensils that made preparing and cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner with no lack of sides easy to pull off. The 5 burner stovetop with oven is awesome!

If you're considering this property, read the owner Jeff's information that he provided. He really gives a great overall of everything to do with staying at this cabin. You'll love how easy dealing with him and this rental is.

Don't hesitate!

Cute, comfortable cabin

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was great. It is cozy and has all the amenities and necessities you would want for a cabin in Vermont. We really enjoyed the hot tub, fireplace, deck and movie projection screen.

Jeff, the owner was great to work with. The booking process was seamless and he followed up with me before we got there to see if we had any questions. He returned the deposit promptly. He had a book of information on the area which was very helpful. There were also detailed instructions all throughout the house on how to use things, etc.

The two things to note are that it is not a large cabin...especially the bedrooms. There were four of us, a baby and two dogs and we were definitely at capacity in the cabin. The second, smaller bedroom requires you to climb into a loft if you have more than one person in the bedroom.

Secondly, the cabin is far away from nearby town(s). I think Waitsfield/warren are the closest decent size towns and they are a good 20 minute drive away. However, we were close to some good hikes. If you don't mind driving to towns and/or want a secluded cabin this is the place for you!

Owner's Response: Thank for your nice review. These are indeed good points to be aware of. The cabin is relatively modest, and as we state in the description, we don't recommend it for large groups. It works best for couples and small families, four or five people max. Also, being in the middle of the Green Mountains, it is located in a small town, with only a general store. However, we are 10 minutes from Rochester center, and 20 minutes from Warren and Waitsfield, where there are many restaurants and shops. It is a great place to get away from it all and enjoy the open spaces and quiet, but does require driving to go anywhere else. Lastly, we are currently building a cottage adjacent to the cabin with another bed and bathroom which will be available by summer 2015.

Map

Car: necessary

Located in central Vermont, 1/2 mile off Rt. 100, alongside the Green Mountains. Just 1/2 hour off the interstate and convenient to skiing, hiking, kayaking, relaxing and many other outdoor activities. Enjoy great nearby skiing or stay on the property and have a great weekend tubing, tubbing and/or snowshoeing through the woods and open fields. In the summer, there is the Farmers Market in Waitsfield, great swimming holes as well as the peace and serenity that comes with being located in the pristine, undeveloped White River Valley.

Other Activities: x-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding right on the property.

Golf: Sugarbush has a beautiful 18 hole course, while White River Golf Club offers 9 holes at a tremendous value only 15 minutes away.

Ski: Sugarbush and Mad River Glen, two of Vermonts best areas are only 25 minutes away, and Middlebury Snow Bowl, Vermonts best value, is only 15 minutes away.

92'' front screen projection TV that turns the living room into a home movie theater. Over 200 DVD's as well as 5 local TV stations via antennae carrying the major networks. Recommend four wheel drive (or AWD) vehicle in winter for local roads and driveway. We now have wireless broadband internet service at the cabin, but you'll need your own computer. There is currently AT&T cell phone service in Granville, but Verizon can be gotten 10 minutes away. Living room has a gas stove which resembles a wood stove, but is much safer and cleaner to operate.
