Charming summer lakeside summer cottage

There weren't very many positive things that I could say about this Vacation house but, what really concerned me was the somewhat less than truthful description given on VBRO about this vacation home. I enjoyed the swimming area, there's a large sand bar that extends the entire length of the property and slopes gradually out into the lake 25 to 40 feet, it was good for both the younger kids and their grandparents. There is an ice cream shop and a good Diner near by, it is quiet day and night, the view from the beach was very nice and, it also goes without saying that the Lakes region of NH is beautiful and I would never discourage anyone from staying in the Ossipee area...

Unfortunately, the negative points far out number the good,,, the first observation we made was that this house was very rustic, slighly musty, and a little dirty looking, it was very disappointing. Upon closer observation we noticed that the floors were merely made of plywood with a coating of varnish on them, and the house itself was originally a much older small cottage with a somewhat shoddy and obvious money saving addition put on the cottage some years later, and forget about construction safety codes. The Grandparents had a very difficult time navigating the staircase to the bedrooms, the staircase is steep and turns a corner twice, the stairs themselves are narrow on one side and wide on the other, with only an open rail made of a 2" X 4" to hold on.

The untruthful claims begin with the number of bedrooms, FOUR bedrooms in this house, not Five, 3 bed rooms upstairs and the old cottage section was converted into one group bedroom. The bedrooms are cramped with the Master bedroom being the only exception, their idea of a King size bed is in reality a queen, and their Queen is actually a full size bed... The biggest exaggeration was that they claimed to have 2 full baths and a 1/2 bath, I looked all over for a second full bath and could not find one, I even looked for an outhouse or a shower mounted to the side of the house, and Nothing!!

Ultimately Yes, I think we all had fun but, I do feel that there should be more honesty from the owner when they rent their property out to unsuspecting families, we expect more from the owner and the home,,, there is simply no room for Sugar coated over exaggerations when it comes to someones vacation time... And lastly, It took over 10 phone calls and almost 3 months to have our security deposit refunded back to us.....
