I'm sorry for coming off so negative, but I do believe I was slightly mislead. No where on the advertisement does it mention the building is shared with a lone male who pulls in everynight at around midnight. Given we vacationned with 4kids under the age of four, we definately would have considered this. The stair case is sooo slippery, not appropriate for toddlers for sure. The biggest thing....lots of windows, great views, NO CURTAINS!!! We were up each morning at 5a.m., then left one night early cause we were so exhausted and couldn't bare waking up early again, only to have to take another cold shower with zero water pressure! Lacked too many simple amenities, such as an alarm clock in the bedroom, hand towels, wash cloths, TOILET PAPER! Not sure why I paid for a cleaning fee as it was obvious, the floors have not been washed in a very long time. Too bad, these are big issues which take very little time to rectify.
Owner's Response: We have been renting the house for the past five plus years with all five star reviews. We take our responsibility to clearly communicate very seriously.
We always let our potential renters know that there is a caretaker who lives on the property. He lives in a separate residence with its' own entrance and he has been with us for many years. He shovels the snow in the Winter. He is quiet and respectful. As to character our caretaker is a member of the local community that manages a local store and runs a day camp for kids. A wonderful person.
Stairs-there is a spiral staircase that accesses the two second story bedrooms. This staircase is pictured. My three (nearly four) year old has no problem but she was not comfortable on the stairs alone when she was two.
Curtains-We have added blinds to all the windows in all the bedrooms.
There is an alarm clock provided in the Master Bedroom.
We have twelve complete sets of towels including wash cloths and hand towels. Six sets are placed out for guests and the other sets can be found in the bottom drawers of the dressers in each bedroom. Our arrival instructions provide these details.
Toilet paper and paper towels are provided. If there were no paper products this was an oversight. A simple phone call or email would have produced an immediate remedy.
Water pressure-We have a state of the art whole house water softener and filter system. The system is serviced annually and the filters are changed every six months. I was at the house on Monday and the water pressure was low. I changed the filters bringing the water pressure back to normal. This was an oversight on my part. While I would have preferred the opportunity to change the filters while our guests were here, my apology is due.
Cleanliness-Please note that our other reviews speak directly to how immaculately clean the property is...we use a professional cleaning service. If anything is not up to standard a simple email or phone call and the cleaning company can be back onsite.
Communication-we provide detailed information throughout the rental process and are forthright with everyone. I respect that different folks have different things that are important to them and I am always eager to make your stay exceptional. This requires that guests communicate if there is anything not to their liking.
