Breakaway is located in Unit 21, on the ocean meadow, center of Sea Ranch, a 5,500 acre nature reserve with 1,900 home sites on the 10 northern most miles of the Sonoma Coast, bordering Mendocino County. Architecturally designed homes built on a unique model of 'Living lightly on the land'. Magnificent coastal views and many beaches, stately stands of redwoods on the ridges, and a run along the Gualala River. A getaway for many writers, artists, actors and musicians. It has art association with art exhibits, music, and plays; In town drop-in music jams at Bones, Wine tasting at the Annapolis Winery, diving, fishing, kayaking, shelling in the waters. Great golf, tennis, hiking, photography, and relaxing.

Sea Ranch Association: 3 RECREATION CENTERS (NO FEE USE WITH PROVIDED PASSES): Heated pools, saunas, showers, tennis courts, basketball, volleyball; ocean views. 18-hole Scottish Links golf course (fee), Gualala River Beach, Redwood forests, hiking trails (one trail covers 10 miles of coast) SRA is on Annapolis Road and has many articles, maps and hiking guides. Check in there to pickup some literature and orient. Local restaurants, grocery shopping, art association, art galleries, music.

Local Attractions: Shopping: Surf Supermarket, Gualala Market, GBS Hardware, Ace Hardware - Recommended Restaurants; Bones (Music jams on Saturday nights), Sea Ranch Lodge, Panagea, St. Orre's Bakery: TwoFish Bakery (Annapolis Road Thursday-Sunday) Don't Miss This One!! Art: Gualala Art Assoc, many galleries.

Security and Passes: PASSES PROVIDED: While not a gated community, Sea Ranch is a private location, with its own security force, and fire department, passes are provided as a renter by my property manager for you and for your car which allows you to utilize all of the facilities. While hiking , using the 3 recreations centers or parking your car, you should carry your passes and mount the car pass on your car.

location is great and I agree the house is nice to look at but it lacks coziness and functionality. The bathroom is a problem and awkward and just too many levels you can't get comfortable here.

The location is outstanding. Beautiful views, walking trails, horseback riding, golf, biking, and peace and quiet when desired. Sea Ranch is a must vacation spot we shall return to.
Nice house to look at, privacy, good hot tub, and enclosure for pet. Interior gets hot in good weather. Upstairs downstairs with one bathroom in the middle is a bit inconvenient, particularly if stairs are a problem. The main bedroom is downstairs and inferior to the loft bedroom, which we moved to after one night in main. Upstairs bed mattress is outstanding.
Felt like a good place for younger couple with kids. We were there to celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary and had some some trouble with the layout of the house.
Place was clean and well maintained/stocked for rental.
Owner's Response: The home is 3 floors and five levels which provides great ocean views and separation, but is not ideal for folks with mobility issues.

The home is passive solar due to the window layout and can be modulated by opening the many windows and sliding doors.

A second bathroom is planned.
