GREAT LOCATION, ISSUES WITH THE PROPERTY

Let me begin by saying that the location of this unit is ideal. The instructions from the property manager about how to enter the property were clear and very easy to follow. However, there were big issues with the property itself. My friend and I received a phone call on our way from Maui informing us that the unit was currently being exterminated for cockroaches. While we did not like the idea of sharing our holiday space with these yucky creatures we were understanding that these things do happen and understood that the issue was being addressed. That being said, we were killing many of these cockroaches on a daily basis and felt that whatever was used to exterminate them was not working. We contacted the property manager who said that the exterminator could not come until Tuesday (this was Friday) so we would just have to put up with them until then. The next morning we were awoken with a splash!! Yes, there was a huge puddle on the floor next to the window as it had been raining the night before and was obviously some big leakage issue. We were thankful that our suitcases were on the other side of the room but two pairs of shoes did not fair well after sitting in the puddle for probably most of the night. We once again contacted the property manager who said that she was aware that there was a water/flooding issue but did not offer any suggestions at all to fix the problem. The huge problem with this, was that we chose to stay in Waikiki when there were 7 straight days of rain, so we were constantly having to place a barrier of towels down that would become sopping wet and then try and dry them to use them again immediately as the water was relentless. If/when the cockroach and water issue is addressed then the location of the unit and the unit itself would be a great basic place to stay in Waikiki, until then be aware that this place has some issues.

First, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience you may have endured. Our building was undergoing major renovations and we tried to accommodate our guests as best we could. We responded to the pest problem, no doubt exacerbated by building renovations as this has been the only such incident ever encountered, as quickly as humanly possible. New windows have been installed recently and workers damaged the exterior rain gutter, causing a leak into our unit as well as the neighboring one. The resident manager, after response delays by the hotel association, was finally able to secure repairs. So, two major issues have been addressed and resolved. As for the week of rain, we cannot be held responsible for inclement weather. We offer our apologies, just the same.

HONE AWAY FROM HOME

We were there for 2 wonderful weeks!!! Prime location to everything we could possibly need from Corner stores, Beaches , the Zoo and all Bus stops. First time renting like this and i would do it again. A few burps along the way but nothing I would say hindered the vacation time spent with my family!!!!!!!!!

VERY HAPPY WITH OUR STAY IN THIS STUDIO

We had an unforgettable vacation in Hawaii. I recommend this place for those who are planing to have an active night life. The location is very comfortable - near the beach, big park, bus stop, rentals - everything. But for that reason it is nosy. I suppose that no matter in which hotel or floor you will stay if you stay in Waikiki it will be nosy.
The studio is big enough for a couple. We had everything in the kitchen and also for the beach - I don't know if the owner provide this or the previous tenants left them, but for us was very convenient to have them - beach towels, bamboo mats, umbrella, 2 pairs of snorkels and goggles, cooler, even books to read :)
The only thing I missed was some kind of balcony, but it's not a big deal - there is a nice sun deck on the top of the building with gorgeous view to the beach, Kapiolani park and Diamond Head .
We never used the laundry room or the pool, so I can't tell anything about this.

VERY CONVENIENT

I have stayed many times at the Waikiki Grand because of its proximity to the beach. The location is great, easy to walk to practically anywhere in Waikiki. The room was nice, with expected amenities. The bed was a bit small - a full size bed. The room does get a bit warm in the morning hours because the sun is rising and the small a/c really cannot keep up, fans in the room might be helpful. Access to the room when arriving was really simple, Steve provided the lock box code when we arrived and everything went smooth from there.

STUDIO 920

The listing description of the studio was accurate.The studio was bright and roomy. We had requested a mattress topper of some sought because the bed was too firm but no follow up by property manager. We stayed one month and it was hard to get a good nights rest on such a firm bed. The location was nice lots of things to do, however, Waikiki is an extremely noisy place. It's a good place if you enjoy being up late at night and early the next morning.

1 WEEK IN WAIKIKI

- steps away from the beach
- food on the premises (teddy's bigger burgers on 1st floor)
- pretty view from the roof (1 floor up)
- felt safe in building
- reasonably priced parking nearby @ the waikiki banyan for anyone wanting to rent a car & explore the more distant parts of the island
- stovetop, mini fridge & microwave allowed us to save money on food.
- front desk person was friendly
- a/c for the daytime heat.
- walking distance from a variety of stores for those who enjoy shopping
- realtor was friendly & helpful when we called a few times with different questions.



cons
- smaller than i expected (a floor plan would be helpful)
- unless the queen bed in my house grew, the bed was a full size (vs the stated queen)
- the mattress could be updated
- while the towels smelled clean & felt clean, there were stains - bleach would probably solve this.
- beach towels would be a nice addition to the shower towels
- the internet was difficult to access - this may be due to the building, something could have been broken / off / etc on the access closest to our floor (3rd floor was what i had to access)
- the noises from the street were louder than expected. if the windows & shades were updated for soundproofing this might help. the a/c helped a little bit.
- a 2nd blanket would have been nice as it was a little chilly at night (and yes, we turned off the a/c :)
- the tub was missing a plug for the drain

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. They are very important to us and give us the opportunity to live up to what we say, improve upon the unit to make it more comfortable for you and lastly to evaluate our performance.

Upon your suggestions I have gone through he websites to make sure we are clear on the size of the bed. The mattress is new. The stained towels have been replaced with new, bright, white towels. New beach towels have been added. Internet access is Wifi available through the building and we have asked the building management to access the connectivity for this unit. We have added additional blankets and also a drain stopper for the bathtub. Thanks again for letting me know.

Lastly, as you know, there isn't too much I can do about street noise. It's all part of city living. Our little city is full of noises from delivery vehicles to emergency vehicles, all necessities of city living.

You mentioned that the Realtor was helpful and friendly with your questions. Had you called and mentioned the above issues I'm sure he could have addressed them in short order for you. We keep inventories and supplies in the building or within one block of the unit for your convenience. So please, when something doesn't work or seem right or if I can assist you, just pick up your cell phone and call rather than wait to the end of your stay. I can help make your stay more comfortable now.
