The Lazy Turtle Villa is one of the few beach side villas with private pool on Nevis.
Set between the mountain and the beach, the views are stunning. The villa is built around the ocean with views of the sea from every room. A private path leads you to the white sands of Nisbet beach. A short walk leads you to Nisbet Plantation, a top rated plantation style inn where you can enjoy excellent dining or simply a cold drink at the casual beach bar. You can set up a tab there for your convenience.
The villa includes a very large porch with 2 hammocks, a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, a living room with WIFI, TV, and DVD and just outside is another hammock and gazebo nearby.
Our bedrooms feature Nevisian style mahogany beds with Egyptian cotton sheets. The master bedroom is air conditioned although most people prefer to fall asleep to the magical tradewinds.
We will pick you up at Nevis airport or on St. Kitts free of charge and bring you home where a rental car will await you. We pride ourselves on our service and convenience.
Tennis: Four Seasons tennis is second to none, with ten courts and ample facilities, services and amenities including night play and professional instruction.
Managed by world-renowned Peter Burwash International, the site comprises four red clay courts (two lit for night play) and six hard courts (three lit for night play). Tennis equipment, apparel and accessories are available from the pro shop, located in the sports pavilion.
The Four Seasons hotel is a short drive away and welcomes our guests for Tennis and Golf (see below). Spa treatments can also be reserved at their world class spa.
Water Sports: Lazy turtle is a short drive from Oualie beach resort. There you will find scuba diving, mountain biking, snorkeling, sunfish sailing, sport fishing boats, a windsurfing school, hobie cats, kayaks and day sailing adventures on yachts and catamarans. You can rent boats, windsurfers and kayaks.
Guided sailing trips can be arranged at this location.
Four Seasons beach club is a 20 minute drive and offers waterskiing, banana boating and tubing.
Adventure sports and other activities: The mountainous terrain and beautiful beaches provide the perfect backdrop for horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking.
We will direct you to some terrific guides who can help share the island with you and create a perfect workout as well!
One of our favorite activities is hiking to plantation ruins. Our kids like to figure out the function of each building they discover.
Climb to the top of Mount Nevis! This is not for the faint of heart and a guide is recommended. This is a stunning hike and the view from the top is well worth the effort!
We have been visiting Nevis for over 20 years and our parents live on Nevis during the winter. As such, we have many secrets to share! Ask us about hikes through the ruins or the latest restaurant openings and we would be happy to share.
Our extensive experience on the island has allowed us to set up the perfect vacation. From the private water taxi that picks you up at the St. Kitts airport, to having a rental car waiting for you at the villa, we love to see our guests stress free!
Lara Patriquin purchased this villa in 2007
Nevis has a little of everything: beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife, great hiking, world class golfing, water sports and incredible restaurants. We also just love the people. This is an unspoiled island that has maintained it's dignity over the years. We have made many friends amongst the people there and could not imagine a more serene place to unwind.
Although we love all the activities of Nevis and all she has to offer, what we love most is coming home, getting a drink and settling in on the porch or gazebo and just stare at the ocean. We feel so peaceful there. Many of our guests have repeated this to us and this is why so many come back to our home.
Lazy Turtle was a fabulous house for my husband and I to stay for our first visit to Nevis. I would return in a heartbeat to enjoy the quiet solitude and relaxing pace of Nesbit Beach. Jane has a network of helpful people to get there with the least bit of hassle, a well oiled machine. The house is just right with a wonderful large screened porch that overlooks the pool. Enjoyed coffee and views of the ocean sitting poolside with the black heron and hummingbirds. Very secluded and private but easily accessible to stroll over to Nesbit Beach Plantation. Had a great tour with Marlon Brando to get a lay of the land and decide where to go back to explore on our own. Hope to be able to return to Nevis and Lazy Turtle again in the future.
After our first week at the Lazy Turtle, the owner Jane Paul gave us a newspaper article about Nevis. It nailed all the things we had been thinking and really enjoying. The article talked about “What Nevis Isn’t”- such as no cruise boats, Starbucks, lots of noise, theme parks, fast pace, etc. You won’t want to go home!
Lazy Turtle is a perfect get away. It is on the ocean. Jane and her staff have done everything to make your visit very nice. From the time you arrive at St. Kitts airport - she has arranged a taxi, then to the launch to get a quick trip to Nevis. Time will go quickly. Enjoy reading by the home’s pool or walking on the beach. Fix dinner at home or go out and explore a place with local music.
My husband and I have traveled together for 10 years in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. The Lazy Turtle villa on Nevis was hands down our favorite vacation ever. We have rented numerous villas, and none have been as clean, comfortable and relaxing as the Lazy Turtle. Caretaker, Jane, had every detail from beginning to end taken care of, so we had not a single moment of stress. If you are normally do-it-yourself vacationers like we are, please allow Jane to do her thing. She knows best about how to make everything happen smoothly on this beautiful island.
Prior to coming to Nevis, we had abandoned Caribbean vacations, feeling that the entire region had become too commercialized, Not so for Nevis. Thanks to this lovely, unspoiled, laid-back island, there is still aN authentic Caribbean island experience. For us, after years vacationing in locations that are either indifferent or sometimes hostile to visitors, the genuinely welcoming attitude of Nevisians was so refreshing! It was also one less stress to have no language barrier to struggle with, since English is he official language here. The beaches are the most beautiful anywhere. The villa is directly on Nisbet Beach, which is wild, beautiful and unspoiled. We were here during peak season, and had an area of Pinney's beach, on the leeward side near the Four Seasons, completely to ourselves. No getting up at 5:00 am to reserve a spot on the beach with a flip flop. The entire beach is available any time.
The restaurants we tried were all great. Pizza Beach, Lime, and Golden Rock. We also cooked at home, and the kitchen was well equipped, even for fairly elaborate meals.
I couldn't help but notice the single negative review of this villa. I can't judge, since I wasn't here when that person visited, but he can't have been talking about the same Lazy Turtle. Bug infested? The worst I saw here was an ant. We have way more bugs in NC than I ever saw here. The housekeeping is impeccable, and I would literally eat off the floor. Not even any sand in the house. I would have to assume that reviewer had some other motive with such ridiculous comments. I hope everyone who considers staying here realizes what an outlier that unpleasant person is. Some people are never going to be pleased with anything.
I would not hesitate for a moment staying here again, or recommending it to friends and family. This will be remembered as one of the happiest weeks in memory.
My husband and I, along with our 2 young adult children, enjoyed our second visit to Lazy Turtle. This time we stayed for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas holiday on Nevis. The owner provided a lot of information on things to do and their parents, Ron and Jane, were the perfect hosts. They arranged for our transport from the airport and had the car rental delivered to the house. They truly want to make sure you have a good visit and are available to assist with contacts to arrange outings on the island. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. We loved lounging out on the large screen porch reading and listening to the tree frogs at night. We really love going to the various plantations around the island that are now beautiful hotel resorts to have lunch or dinner. We particularly like Golden Rock and Montpelier. Next door, is Nisbet Plantation, with whom the owners have an arrangement that their guests can open a tab at the plantation, that allowed us to eat over at the beach bar and restaurant. There is a steel drum band that plays for Sunday lunch at Nisbet and the Thursday night dinner and dancing on the beach is a lot of fun. We also enjoyed the other restaurants such as Lime, Sunshines, Gallipot and Bananas. Jane and Ron gave us a personal guided hike to an old plantation site and provided information about other hiking opportunities. On the advice of the owners,we also went zip lining on St. Kitts, which was a blast. While there we also visited Caribelle Batik and the Brimstone Hill Fortress. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation with plenty of time just relaxing by the pool and swimming in the beautiful ocean, as well as, adventuring around the island. We wish we could visit every year and hope to return soon.
Lazy Turtle Villa truly is a find. Jane and her staff make a stay at Lazy Turtle memorable. It has such charm, beauty and comfort which all combined make for a perfect vacation. We have been traveling to Nevis over 20 years and only wish we had "discovered" Lazy Turtle years earlier. We will definitely be back. David & Theresa Bard. Little Rock, Ar
We work too hard... 6 days most weeks and silly hours, so when we go on holiday, we want it to be just right and for us both to be able to relax and do the little bit of work we can't avoid. Somewhere, with sun, swimming, walks, nice restaurants, and shops for the essentials - and good wifi!
Well we hit the nail right on the head with the Lazy Turtle and Nevis. We flew in from London and were met by Daisy exactly as we had been told we would be in the very useful and efficient emails we had received from Lara and Jane and the water taxi across to Nevis was a fun way to start our trip - nice boat Wincent!
We then met Marlon who rented us a car for the duration of our trip - as we like to explore off the beaten track a bit, the little 4x4 was ideal. On arrival at the the villa, Bonnie was waiting to show us around and in no time we had settled into our new 'home'. The villa is exactly as described and has all the facilities mentioned, although we didn't use some of them - the TV didn't get turned on once! The pool is great and the garden is bigger than expected - one of our delights was wandering down the garden, through the gate and down the path to the beach to watch the sun rise in the mornings...
We spent our days exploring Nevis, as well as catching the ferry over to St Kitts for a couple of days there. We ate out most evenings and found some splendid restaurants - Gallipot (clearly the ex-pats favourite..!), Bananas, Golden Rock, Hermitage and Coconut Grove are all worth a visit, but our favourite was Chrishi's which had great food and staff and splendid cocktails!
The Botanical Gardens are well worth a visit, as is the museum in Charlestown - a visit which can be ended with a drink at the very friendly Cafe des Arts next door. It's also fun to look around away from the main road around the island. We tried out several of the roads marked as 'dirt track/road' on the map and found all sorts of remains from the island's plantation past, as well as the first herd of wild donkeys we have ever come across! And monkeys...lots of monkeys...
All in all we had a fantastic time, and if you want your own space and to do your own thing, away from the normal tourist trail, then the Lazy Turtle is a great place to do it. I suspect we may be back..!
Enjoy the privacy of a beachside villa with the convenience of resort living. We will greet you at the airport _ either in Nevis or St. Kitt _ and a rental car will await you at the villa, should you desire one. Start a tab at the neighboring Nisbet Plantation beach club for award winning meals and beach side drinks. Meals can also be prepared in your fully equipped kitchen.
This is one of few beachfront properties with a pool. It is located on the most desirable part of the island, convenient to the many places Nevis has to explore; hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, biking, golf and tennis and some of the best food in the carribean.
We have been exploring Nevis for over 15 years and would be delighted to share our experiences with you
Golf: The Robert Trent Jones II course at the Four Season Resort is world famous and a short drive away.
The course provides a dramatic view of the Resort, the Caribbean and the neighboring island of St. Kitts.
