Le Moulin de Lurais enjoys an idyllic location on the banks of the river Creuse, and offers three self catering holiday gites. The Watermill, the Maison de Maitre and the Farmhouse are comfortable and spacious self-catering holiday gites, on the edge of the Brenne National Park and within easy reach of the Loire valley Each gite has a spacious garden, we have a long stretch of our own river bank, islands and a nearby sandy riverside beach. Each gite shares a 12m x 6m heated swimming pool, available from May to September, this has a Roman steps entrance, varies in depth from 900mm to 2000mm and is safely situated within an attractive walled courtyard. Each self-catering holiday gite has its own fridge/freezer, gas hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, private garden, garden furniture and barbeque. Baby cots and high chairs can be provided. Winter heating is provided by a very effective wooden burning stove, with supplementary electric heaters. Bedlinen is included.

This former flour mill has been carefully restored keeping as many of the original features as possible and retains an atmosphere of the working mill it once was. The stone flagged ground floor, entered from the main courtyard, retains most of the original mill wheel and its workings, and is sited over the mill race. The ground floor also provides access to the private grass terrace with weeping willows and is adjacent to the mill pond. There is a WC on this floor. A staircase leads to the spacious open plan first floor living room, dining area and integrated and fully equipped kitchen. Absolutely ideal for a self catering holiday. On the second floor there is a large landing with three bedrooms, two with double beds and one with two single beds (a third single bed can be provided), there is also a bathroom/WC and a separate shower room with WC and wash hand basin.

Lurais is within easy reach of the Loire where almost all of the nobility in France built themselves a chateau during the 17th century. Most of these wonderful chateaux are open to the public. Le Moulin de Lurais is in the 'Parc Naturel Regional de la Brenne'. designated such because of its varied and fascinating wildlife and the 'Pays de Trois Vallees', the Creuse, the Anglin and the Gartempe. This is a magnificent landscape of rolling hills and wooded river valleys, farmland and forests, fields, rivers and lakes. In the surrounding countryside are excellent facilities for cycling, canoeing, walking, riding, climbing, fishing and golf. There is excellent fishing in the many rivers and lakes in the area. There are good Golf courses in nearby La Roche Posay, and at Poitiers, Chatellerault and Chateauraux. The 'Centre-Ouest' is one of the main wine growing regions of France. Some of the best known regional wines are; Vouvray, Montlouis, Muscadet, Sancerre, Pouilly, Saumur Champigny.

  • OUR LETTING PRICE IS FOR FULL OCCUPANCY, IF YOUR REQUIREMENTS ARE FOR FEWER NUMBERS THE RENTAL PRICE IS REDUCED FOR ALL WEEKS OTHER THAN THE PEAK SEASON.
    Other than the peak season we welcome couples and small parties.
  • A security deposit of £200 is required with the final payment, and will be returned subject to our terms and conditions within 14 after departure days.
  • Letting prices include all bed linen, towels and gas for hot water and cooking.

    Electricity is charged as an extra at 0.25c per Unit and is payable on departure.
