Nantahala

The Nantahala was a wonderful getaway for my family. The description of "out in the country, way in the woods and top of the mountain" is right on. Being from Florida, we didn't have too much experience driving on narrow mountain roads. The gravel road going to the house was an experience for us. By the time our stay was over, it was a cinch. On that same road, we saw a tom turkey with his hen and their eight chicks. The home is very well maintained and very clean. The owners have done a fine job of leaving written instructions for the operation of things, like the fireplace, around the house. We enjoyed reading the book on the history of the property. All you need to bring is food and paper goods. While we were there, the most popular place early in the morning and in the early evening was the rear porch that faced the mountains. My coffee never tasted so good as I sat on the swing listening to the birds. If your day to day life has left you tied up in knots, this is the place to let it all go. I wish that we lived closer so we could go back more often.
