The word 'Eleuthera' is the greek word for 'freedom.' The island is long and narrow island (100 miles long, 2 miles wide) and sandwiched between the deep Atlantic to the east, and the calm shallow Carribean to the west. There are plenty of beaches where you can walk for miles and not see a soul; hidden coves, and small island settlements with friendly people. Local hitchhikers are plentiful, and provide a bountiful supply of good information on island lore, activities and interesting sites. The population of Eleuthera is about 11,000, very friendly, most of whom are engaged in fishing, farming,and the tourist industry. Bahama Villa, a secluded beach house located at Ten Bay, is the nicest little romantic getaway on the island. The Villa is located just a few miles south of Governors Harbour, where you will find a few shops, a bakery, a bank and several restaurants. WEATHER on Eleuthera is tropical, meaning mostly sunny and hot during the day with occasional thunderstorms.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Year-round price USD $995 per week. Rates quoted for 2 people; add USD $15 for each extra guest; max. occupancy - 4 guests. Christmas-New Year rate: USD $2800 for the entire 2-week period, or $1600/week (if available after Nov. 1; plus $25/night extra guests).
  • Nightly or short stays (i.e., less than one week) are made available within 60 days of arrival, or within 30 days of major holiday periods. Nightly rate USD $170, minimum of 3 nights' stay ($225 if available Christmas/New Year).
  • All stays require a Refundable Security Deposit of USD $100 and Cleaning fee of USD $55. Payment to be made in exact amount of US currency in the form of an international bank cheque, wire transfer, or via on line payment though PayPal (for smaller amounts). Paypal payments require an additional 3% of total amount due.

Spot the tropical fish already from your deck chair! 50 yards to the right you will find the clean 1000 yard sand beach of Ten Bay, that seems to be empty most of the time.... Local house manager available on call. 2 person Ocean Kayak available at $100/week + $100 damage deposit. Additional Kayaks can be rented at $45/day. Central AIR CONDITIONING has been updated in 2005. The weather in Eleuthera is almost always warm, and rarely goes below 65 F (20 C). Most guests report not needing it much, however, except on the very hottest days. With all the fresh breezes wafting in from the bay and circulated by the ceiling fans, you may want to just enjoy living a-la-Casablanca.

Sorry, but no refunds can be given for cancellations after the 60-day cut-off unless the Villa can be re-booked. If so, you will receive the re-booking amount, minus a USD $100 cancellation fee. Exceeded all my expectations. As nice as the pictures are on the Web, they still don't do justice to how beautiful the property and surrounding area is. The house is kept in impeccable condition and you can spend the a whole week without leaving the bay. There are no words to describe how wonderful our stay was at Bahama Villa. A lot of tender loving care went into making this villa a most comfortable, inviting, and relaxing place to stay for any length of time! The moment we set foot on the deck of Bahama Villa we new that this vacation would be different from any other stay before.

We have rented beach houses on the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, but Bahama Villa is beating them all. Lay down in the hammock and allow the view to overtake you, you will wish that heaven will be like that.
To your right is the well protected 900 yard Ten Bay beach, one of the best beaches of the Bahamas, even during high season peaceful and clean (only a few houses have access to this beach, during our stay we only once saw 15 persons on the beach). In front of you a picture perfect scenery of dark and light turquoise blue sea colors and topical fish swimming visible in the crystal clear water right under your large deck, and left of you: palm trees, coconuts, conch shell, coral rocks and a sun set on the sea horizon as in a dream.
Great snorkeling starts right under the house as the overhanging rocks provide shelter for fish and growth of coral. (it felt like being in a Jacques Cousteau documentary).

The house is very private and cozy with good beds,(first class bedding) a living room with a 270 degree view and is well taken care of.
The interior has recently been upgraded . The house was very clean!!!

The local house manager is very friendly and helpful. The view from the master bedroom with a full moon of the Caribbean Sea is to die for….

You will also find a good collection of books, DVD, detailed maps, and tips and hints on what to do on the island in the house.

This villa is unique because it feels as if you are on a boat and the on beautiful the beach in few steps……it is big value for money!!!!
We will recommend this house highly and we must return!
