my personal experience for budget vac place
Review Submitted: July 20, 2008
Date of Stay: July 2008
Everything in the house was quaint, and big enough with lots of charm-beach acess, nice looking furnishings with the owners paintings of the island throughout, which would very well done-All was a dream, until I saw a huge roach in the kitchen, then one on the wall in my bedroom and so I damned up the area under the stove with towels to ensure none could come out while I was cooking and we made fun of it by a quick verse of La cucaracha, while drinking vino outside until i could go to bed without wondering what might be lurking around me! Otherwise, looking at the perfect evening sky and feeling the breeze and watching the palms sway- was very peaceful. Also having a washer and ample clothes line to dry- was a plus. There were plentiful games my kids enjoyed playing besides chasing the chickens around the yard. The owner was absent, and there was a nice man left in charge who met us on the island to help us when we were lost, gave us lots of help and things like salt/pepper and befriended us-we really enloyed him Also, note very little hot water- we got used to refreshing showers in the evening-which after lots of heat-were fine! Everything was as promised and we had a really nice time- I just had to put the whole roach thing out of my mind- thankfully my husband saw them to their death and there wern't so many they ever scrambled around- these were the large dumb kind, that didn't try to run when a shoe was toppled on top of them! We thought, it was one of our fondest places to stay- but would only return % suggest it to a friend, if we knew it had recently been bombed with roach killer or something first.
Owner's Response: I definitely try to accommodate my renters, as I did this family by purchasing an extra washer, new blankets and towels to allow a family of 4 in a one bedroom apartment.
I feel an email I received 5 days prior to their stay set the tone of the vacation before their stay began. She questioned whether "discount" or "budget" meant there were cock roaches.
I was unable to answer her email due to traveling, which this client knew I would be out of town during their stay.So I will respond now, discount or budget means affordable in cost.It means for people on a budget, who are looking for a deal. In the tropics it is a constant problem and we do fumigate. This is my only renter who has ever mentioned encountering critters, and I receive wonderful emails of praise and thanking me for offering budget housing.
