Beautiful, warm, breeze, sand (+lots & lots of ash) sun, surf. The Natives are warm and freindly. Sorry to see the results of the volcano-lost of Plymouth, commerce, residence, golf course, etc.
Once in a lifetime opportunity to witness soufriere Hills Volcano Pyroclastic flow on february 11th, 2010 & then again on Sunday February 14th, 2010 with flow this time towards Plymouth.
The tourist Board of Montserrat has a gigantic opportunity to share safely this natural Phenomenon with the world. The airport as well as the ferry in conjunction with Antigua & Surrounding islands with their tourist boards to afford the opportunity for day trips. The Tropical Mansion Suites Hotel is ideal with its location readily available to the ferry & airport- also the beach at Rendevous Bay with beach Shuttle (water taxi) service. Present Lime Kiln Bay Beach, Woodlands Beach, bumbkum Bay Beach for what they truly are black sand beaches.
Lime Kiln Bay Beach is home to much of the islands wildlife- Toads, iguanas, agoutis, don't forget the chickensand of course the hawkbill turtles- which we witnessed spotting-sitting. Turtles run from the ocean, mounded nest mounds and return running to the sea.
The pool was wonderful once the ash "quit" falling and Tony learned all the mechanisms. He rigged up a solar heating system with the black hose that worked quite nicely.
The largest attribute for the Villa Tropicasa is the spectacular ocean view.
Thank you for affording us the opportunity to experience the island of Montserrat and the warm & helpful natives-it was truly a pleasure.
