This review is our critique of this rental property and we have nothing personal against the owner of the property. On the contrary, he was amiable and accommodating, and refunded our cleaning deposit, for reasons that will follow in this review. However, in fairness to others thinking about renting this condo I offer the following:
The queen bed in the loft is really a mattress on the floor - an adult cannot stand up in the loft area without hitting the ceiling; we had to buy our own toilet paper, paper towel and soap for the shower as these were not provided (only one roll of toilet paper on each dispenser in each bathroom, one roll of paper towel in kitchen); the First Street beach is within walking distance, but there are not sidewalks on this part of North Shore Drive (it is two lanes, with double yellow line); the queen bed in the master bedroom is very noisy - creaked every time we rolled over (and no, we are not big people); there is a playground area with children's swings, but signs are posted for children NOT to play because it is dangerous (looks like the equipment is from the 1930's or 1940's); the house wasn't very clean - garbage can in kitchen had gunk around the edges from previous tenants, wall behind the garbage can spattered with food because people had aimed for the can and missed their target, kitchen sink had a strainer with food particles left in it, sticky floors in kitchen that I cleaned myself because I got tired of walking on them, the carpeting in the enclosed stairway leading up to the condo was filthy and smelled musty (like wet dog - even though dogs aren't allowed), and the condo smelled the same. We ran the air conditioner constantly to keep the air smelling better, even though the weather was fairly mild. The recliner in the living area was stained and smelly, like dozens of sweaty bodies had been sitting on it all summer long. We covered it with a sheet before we sat on it.
So, our vacation got off to a rocky start because we had to buy supplies and clean. We didn’t sleep well because the bed was loud. But after we cleaned up the place, went shopping, and took Excedrin PM every night, things were fine.
