Overview

Charlottetown Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Chalet, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Spruce Grove Beach House is a large two bedroom winterized cottage with hardwood floors, vaulted pine ceiling and warm, comfortable furnishings. It has a 3.5 Stars Canada Select rating. The open concept, fully equipped kitchen with custom cabinets, overlooks the living and dining areas and commands an outstanding, unobstructed view of the ocean beyond.

Situated on a spacious double lot, the Northumberland Strait coastline is less than 100 meters directly in front, and beach access is a short 2 minute walk.

Enjoy inspiring sunrises and sunsets from the large, wraparound deck and breathe the fresh sea air as you watch the tides ebb and flow.

The calm, warm salt waters of the Strait reach temperatures of 72- 74 degrees Fahrenheit in July and August making it a recreational paradise for young and old alike. Low tide exposes miles of red sand tidal flats and reveals an abundance of marine life waiting to be discovered and explored. Dozens of species of sea birds, including Osprey, Great Blue Heron, Cormorants and Gulls forage along the edge of the retreating sea.

This part of the Island features rugged sandstone cliffs at the waters edge and you can access the beach via a footpath which winds its way down among the rocks. Beach shoes or other non-slip footwear is recommended. At high tide, our family likes to set up beach chairs, air mattresses, and towels right on the rocks and use them as platforms for swimming. If you are travelling with young children, you may prefer easier access and a more sandy beach. Both of these conditions can be found within a 5 minute drive along the coast at Hennebery Lane Beach, Canoe Cove, and the old Rice Pt. Wharf area. You'll find directions to these beaches in the cottage.

Spruce Grove Beach House is located on the South shore of Prince Edward Island, 25 minutes East of the Confederation Bridge and 20 minutes West of Charlottetown, the provincial capital. The town of Cornwall is less than a 15 minute drive and has all the amenities vacationers require. Prince Edward Island boasts some of the finest, most challenging golf courses in Canada. All are within a one hour drive and most are within 30 minutes.

Spruce Grove Beach House is a special place offering complete peace and tranquility perfect for families and even better for couples seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

About Tracey Olson

I am a retired educator, my wife works for a legal firm in Charlottetown, and our daughter will be starting grade 7 in September, 2015.

Tracey Olson purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Tracey Olson chose Charlottetown

We have been going to the South Shore of PEI every summer for the past 25 years. Most of the time was spent at Argyle Shoe which is a little further west along the coast. My sister and her family rented a small cottage there every year. About 12 years ago they bought land and built their own summer place at Rice Pt. and when this property became available only a Km up the road, we decided to take a look. We were totally amazed at the view from the cottage and the fact that there are no other cottages on either side or in front of us. It was a rare find so close to the city and we decided to make an offer that was eventually accepted.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage is centrally located and is perfect as a base for exploring all parts of the Island. But if you choose to just sit back and relax, you won't find a better place to enjoy privacy and tranquility.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you, Tracey and Bill, for the wonderful cottage and accommodations. It made our stay here a very memorable experience! We loved everything about it, especially the view. We will definitely consider it again if we return this way! Thanks again!

Wow!! What a great cottage!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

I cant say enough great things about this cottage! The view was awesome and the beach was very easy to get to. We love the glass railing around the deck which we enjoyed pretty much every day except for 1 day of rain. The owners do not have any control of the weather so we expected at least 1 day of bad weather. We especially loved the lighting in the cottage as it was warm and comfortable. Beds and towels/sheets were awesome and we could not have asked for anything more. Would gladly book this vacation home again as it is well worth the rental fee. Restaurants were close by (as owner stated ) and there was nothing misleading on the cottage site. Our family highly recomends this cottage to anyone looking for a peacefull getaway with all the fixins.

A Bit Disappointed

  • 3 of 5

Two couples shared this cottage. Be prepared for one comfortable queen and one, old, squeaky double. Futon is old and tired. Location is a bit remote and not close to restaurants. Plan time to clean the house, do laundry and make up beds before you leave. It's part of the contract. Nice water view, but no usable beach. Well equipped, but linens and towels are doing their second run in this house. Felt like we had stepped into a friend's beach house, not a place for which we would pay rent. Bring some extra light bulbs, if you plan to read after dark in the living/dining room. Bedrooms are well lit. New bathroom fixtures in full bath and a handy, small sink in the main bedroom. We wrongly expected .5 bath would include another toilet. Wonderful deck and large back yard, with resident foxes, darting about in the morning and evening hours. Unfortunately the weather wasn't warm, nor sunny enough to enjoy the deck, but with better weather it would be a great place to enjoy the barbecue located there.

A Fantastic Place!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cottage for 4 nights and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The view is AMAZING. Exactly what we were looking for. Red sand and cliffs just a short walk at the end of the property. Low tide offered wonderful beach combing. One night we even enjoyed a glass of wine on the rocks while enjoying a sunset. The cottage inside was perfect. Given it was only the two of us, there would be space for more ppl. Fully equiped kitchen, spacious bathroom, and the ceiling fans were good for circulating air. The location itself was perfect too. Easy to travel around the island; there is even a lighthouse about 15min from the cottage. We really enjoyed coming back to the cottage after a day of sight seeing. It felt like 'home'. Wish we could have stayed more then 4 days! If we come back to the East Coast we'll definitely be coming back here and I've also recommended it to many friends! Thank you so much Tracy, Bill and Emma for opening up your cottage to us!

Rice Point Treasure

  • 5 of 5

This property is as lovely as it appears in the photos. The view is very nice from the deck which is complete with lounging chairs and table and chairs. The overhead fans in the cottage help to keep the air moving although there is usually a breeze from the water. Nice to have a dishwasher for a quick cleanup and a washer and dryer for catching up on laundry. Added feature is an outdoor shower which helps with the overflow from one bathroom if you have 6 people. Very central location for exploring the island or for Confederation Bridge to explore NS or NB. Would definitely rent again and will recommend to friends wanting to travel to PEI.
