Watch whales, turtles, dolphins, and surfers from your own private 400 square foot lanai only 20 feet off the ocean. Prepare meals as often or as little as you like in the fully-equipped kitchen, which includes a washer/dryer too. Take a dip in the ocean view swimming pool or relax in the jacuzzi. This is the perfect location close to downtown Kona, as well as the Keauhou shopping center. Need to rent two units at Banyan Tree ? Let us know !

MOST OFTEN ASKED QUESTIONS: Are you near the beach ? We are located at Banyan Beach so the beach is right beside the building.There are also 4-5 pocket beaches in Kona. I would describe them as about 50 yards in length, some are white sand.Some are white sand and lava rock.

How close is the ocean to the unit ? If you were any closer you would be in a boat. Watch our video and you will see that Banyan Tree sits right on top of the ocean and this unit is located at the closest point to the ocean.

I've been ripped off in Hawaii before, are you real ? I just got ripped off myself at a hotel in Pismo Beach, Ca. last summer so I understand where this is coming from. First off please read our reviews. They are totally controlled by Homeaway and are from actual guests. Have traveled the Hawaiian islands for years and feel like a tour guide there . When I stayed at Banyan Tree it blew me away and I knew I had to own there. I have'nt seen anywhere in Hawaii that the ocean comes in like it does at Banyan Tree. Poipu Beach on Kauai comes in a close second. The people in Kona are absolutely the friendliest people I have encountered on the islands with the feel of old Hawaii still intact. Kona is my favorite city in Hawaii and in the future Banyan Tree will be my next home.

What a VIEW

This place is great! The location is very convenient just south of "town" but not far from anything. The unit is very comfortable and well appointed. If you need a beach chair, it's there. Umbrella, not a problem. Snorkel and mask, yep. I could not believe the view. Every afternoon we watched sea turtles right below the window. In the morning we saw tropical fish swimming in the water from the living room window. This was my favorite trip to the Big Island. Highly recommended !!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Close to Kona, snorkeling, boogie boarding and relaxing. It was great to come home to the quiet and peaceful sound of the surf. We found a variety of great places to eat, and had lovely barbecue dinners on the lanai. Each evening we'd relax and watch the whales, turtles, and dolphins, and wait for the lovely sunset. We'd recommend this to anyone wanting something other than the usual big commercial resort type vacation. Thank you Don for the useful information you provided to us, and for a lovely home away from home.

GREAT TIME AND PLACE

Just want to sat thanks to Don for allowing me to rent the place for ten days. The view, well you just have to see it but it is probably the best in Kona. The unit was very well kept, and should you be fortunate enough to rent this place ensure you keep the front door open and the security screen door closed to allow for maximum breeze conditions to flow through. Kona is an extremely safe place plus you are in an elevated building with access up only through a coded elevator,,,so don't fret just enjoy. The ocean is your music from this condo.....everything worked great in the unit and this condo made my stay in Hawaii so much better than other places I have stayed. You will know as soon as you walk down the hall to the living area and kitchen, get ready to be stunned by the view. The kitchen and place has everything you need to include boogie boards in the closet,,,probably collections previous tenants have included to make those after them have a better time. All appliances worked fine and the view the view the view.
Do not be alarmed either by the locals hangout right next door. It is a beach area known as the locals hangout. You can get a real perspective of the local lifestyle from this and I was routinely humored by their mannerisms. I can tell you they were always very respectful and throughout the week I watched them make improvements to the place on property they do not own, to include building a concrete staircase down into the surf. In addition, they monitored folks for safety due to them knowing the waters well. Should you desire, you can partake of their efforts as well to enjoy the surf and waves in front of the place to include snorkeling. They are also very very good surfers and from your lanai you can witness some of the best surfing in Kona.......also you normally have five resident sea turtles to keep you going and an array of tropical fish. I must end this but could say plenty more positives,,,,I will rent this place again upon my next trip if available and this is the only unit I would want considering I got the best of both worlds with the local surf crowd and the the ocean waves.

What a disappointment

Just to inform you that I'm checking out Wednesday April 2. Please let housekeeping know so it will give them extra time to deep clean the condo.
The view from the condo is exceptional but I have to agree with the reviewer in march.

The kitchen needs a deep cleaning due to the grease built up on the cabinets. The utensils drawers are dirty and need attention. The stickiness on the kitchen cabinets is not from sea water but of grease and lack of cleaning. I managed to cooked only one meal.

The dryer vent sock hasn't been clean for months. I couldn't figured out why my clothes would take three hours to dried and the humidity in the condo was unbearable until I discovered the vent sock. It contained a month worth of lint. It would be a good idea if this information is posted on the dryer so future guests would know to only use the dryer when they are away and turn on the fan and leave the sliders open for ventilation.

The master bathroom curtain is sour and smell of urine. I did not use that bathroom due to the smell. It might be a good idea to remove the unnecessary curtain as it only absorb urine and make the shower darker.
The plastic shower curtain is just plain nasty and and for less than $5, it should be replaced.

The coils on the twin bed is making it ways up and very uncomfortable for my daughter to sleep. Thanks goodness she only weighted 100 lbs.

The carper runners and area rugs need replace or remove as it is looking pretty ragged.
The main fan in the living room cord is broken.

From your previous responses, I sense that you take offend to negative reviews. But this is a business and customer's reviews is your best tools to provide a better product. Your customers paid for your mortgage and more. Therefore, you should take every reviews as a way to improve.

I hope you take my review constructively as it is your source to check in with housekeeping to make sure you are getting what you paid for because I was disappointed with the accommodation and this is one of my reason for leaving Hawaii 4 days earlier than planned.
This review was sent to the owner in April buy I did not get a response therefore, I decided to post the review so other travelers don't waste their money or time.

I cannot fix things unless they are actually broken. I cannot fix anything unless I actually get a call or an email. In a matter of minutes I can have the building manager, or the maid service at the unit. I heard zero from you, then this review 3.5 months later ?
Seems like most people are having a great time as indicated by all of the 5 star reviews. June 16th review headlines states the word CLEAN MODERN SECURE. They stayed near the same time frame.
I don't take offense to peoples comments unless they are unfounded.
Shower curtain smells like urine? They were replaced in March. Beds are brand new and comfortable. Brand new carpet in bedrooms and new closet doors. Kitchen has no build up of grease.
You describe yourself in the header as Awful Place Alaska,
I hope your spirit moves to a better place in Alaska and elsewhere. .

The site was clean, modern and secure

We were 4 adults and the facility was perfect for us.
Located right on the beach, we enjoyed watching the surfers from morning to night. We had native entertainment every night from the public beach below and we enjoyed walking the lava beach below and watch the turtles in the tidal pools.
In the addition it is close to an excellent protected snorkel beach and there is a covenience store right accross the street.

Perfectly romantic and amazing views !

I was looking for a real Hawaii experience for my my 2 girls 10 and 5 along with my husband. I wanted my girls to enjoy a local experience rather than a resort and that is just what we had. Can not ask for a better location and the view is just as fabulous! Great condo for families or couples. We all enjoyed it so much.This trip ranks very high on our all-time favorite list!! As you had mentioned, the people were friendly, the pace was pretty kick back, and the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you very much for allowing us to rent your home, and for the wonderful hospitality." Can not wait to go back!

Banyan Tree is located in Kona on Alii Dr which is the main oceanfront road. The unit sits on the ocean side of the road and is located about 1.5 miles from the downtown shopping area. Banyan Tree Beach is located right at the building. Pocket beaches are located all along Alii Dr and some of the best snorkeling found in Hawaii. There is a small market across the street ( 9am-9pm) In the building next door is a convenience store, and a surf shop. (very small) Driving- downtown (5 minutes) airport-(15 minutes)
