Fabulous stay at Grace's cottage

This is a fabulous cottage, well located in Connemara and very peaceful (and also pitch black at night). Hadn't appreciated just how well situated the cottage was, being a Connemara newbie. It seemed fairly pricey but with two kids under two we knew we'd spend a good bit of time chilling out at the house while they had their naps and it was worth the extra money to sit by the fireplace in comfortable, spacious surroundings and enjoy the views. The sitting room is divine (with endless supply of turf for the fire), amazing views of the National Park and just a nice round room with high ceilings. Very spacious and well equiped. We ate in the house some nights (with every utensil you could ever need), mostly because of the little ones and in Roundtone and Clifden other nights. The weather was the only thing that let us down. But if I was being really picky (and I mean really picky) I would say the bed in the main bedroom was enticing for it's size but slightly disappointing for the fact that it was two large singles joined together. It certainly wouldn't be enough to put me off staying here though as the bedroom itself is very romantic and there are other doubles. The nearby beach was stoney at one end and sandy at the other, not as stunning as other beaches in Roundstone, Omey Island and Ballykeenely but nice all the same for it's proximity. We spent a lot of time hunting down playgrounds for the kids and found one in the National park, Roundstone (best one) and Leenane (very small) (- the swing advertised would have been a bonus if it had still been there). All fabulous places to visit of course (loved the scenery in Leenane, setting just beautiful yet understated in guidebooks). I wish we had had time to take a boattrip in Leenane. My 10 month old even learned to walk in the cottage and honed his new skill in Leenane. The house is very child friendly with the addition of a cot, highchair and other bits and bobs to make travelling away from home alot easier. Much appreciated! The stairs in the house are fairly steep so we were glad to have bought a stair gate with us. Michelle was a great host, very available and quick to respond with requests for help. Very respectful of privacy yet available if needed. Thanks for a fabulous stay. We would definately stay here again if we were visiting the area.
