Wonderful cottage in a beautiful area

Review Submitted: June 13, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Grace's cottage was absolutely perfect for our family vacation and just as described in the brochure. There were seven of us in our party (grandparents, parents and three children), but the property still felt very spacious with all of us in it. This was one of the best equipped properties we have rented; the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed and we never needed to improvise or "make do". The property was extremely comfortable and well-maintained with good quality furnishings and lots of thoughtful touches throughout. We found it a great location for touring the local sights as there were things to see when driving out in each direction. Having made it all the way to the top of one the hills in the Connemara National Park, our young boys were deligted to be reminded of their achievement when they got back to the cottage each day and could see it in the stunning view from the living room window. The owner could not have been more welcoming and helpful and we would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this property.

Wonderful time in Connemara

Review Submitted: November 3, 2011 Date of Stay: October 2011
The Westcoast of Ireland in late October and early November? People thought we are crazy. But we (five Austrian men between 35-45 years of age) had a great time! And Grace’s Cottage had a huge part on that. After a very warm welcome from Michelle we arrived into a cozy and wonderfully furnished cottage. Our expectations were really high because of the good reviews but still it was even more positive a surprise than we had hoped for. The location is breathtaking and the house – which very soon became a home – has everything you could possibly need for a successful vacation in Ireland: the washing machine and the dryer came in handy after a hike in the rain, the fireplace next to the TV and DVD-player convinced us into a very relaxing night in (the rest of the nights we spent in Cleggan or Clifden both only 10 minutes by car) and the kitchen has everything you could ask for (the coffee machine that was asked for in one of the last reviews is now there).
Being located in the heart of Connemara all the sights and walks are very close. Be sure not to miss a trip to Insihbofin (the ferry leaves from Cleggan) and do one of the three loop-walks. It’s amazing.
All the best to Michelle and her family and all the future guests of Grace’s Cottage!

Fabulous stay at Grace's cottage

Review Submitted: September 19, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010
This is a fabulous cottage, well located in Connemara and very peaceful (and also pitch black at night). Hadn't appreciated just how well situated the cottage was, being a Connemara newbie. It seemed fairly pricey but with two kids under two we knew we'd spend a good bit of time chilling out at the house while they had their naps and it was worth the extra money to sit by the fireplace in comfortable, spacious surroundings and enjoy the views. The sitting room is divine (with endless supply of turf for the fire), amazing views of the National Park and just a nice round room with high ceilings. Very spacious and well equiped. We ate in the house some nights (with every utensil you could ever need), mostly because of the little ones and in Roundtone and Clifden other nights. The weather was the only thing that let us down. But if I was being really picky (and I mean really picky) I would say the bed in the main bedroom was enticing for it's size but slightly disappointing for the fact that it was two large singles joined together. It certainly wouldn't be enough to put me off staying here though as the bedroom itself is very romantic and there are other doubles. The nearby beach was stoney at one end and sandy at the other, not as stunning as other beaches in Roundstone, Omey Island and Ballykeenely but nice all the same for it's proximity. We spent a lot of time hunting down playgrounds for the kids and found one in the National park, Roundstone (best one) and Leenane (very small) (- the swing advertised would have been a bonus if it had still been there). All fabulous places to visit of course (loved the scenery in Leenane, setting just beautiful yet understated in guidebooks). I wish we had had time to take a boattrip in Leenane. My 10 month old even learned to walk in the cottage and honed his new skill in Leenane. The house is very child friendly with the addition of a cot, highchair and other bits and bobs to make travelling away from home alot easier. Much appreciated! The stairs in the house are fairly steep so we were glad to have bought a stair gate with us. Michelle was a great host, very available and quick to respond with requests for help. Very respectful of privacy yet available if needed. Thanks for a fabulous stay. We would definately stay here again if we were visiting the area.

Grace's Cottage

Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
From Trevor and Jean
Northern Ireland
Date of stay: August 2009
We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Grace’s Cottage Connemara. The cottage is beautiful, very comfortable and really well equipped and maintained. It is spacious yet so cosy and has lots of nice touches. We felt at home straightaway and really enjoyed relaxing at the turf fire after each day’s activities. The setting is absolutely stunning with great views of mountains, countryside and sea. It is so peaceful and quiet yet is really well placed as a base for exploring Connemara. There are even some lovely walks starting from the doorstep of the cottage.
Michelle, the owner of the cottage, is a lovely host who made us really welcome and it was reassuring to know that she was just a phone call away if we needed help or advice.
We found the combination of Grace’s Cottage and the beaches and scenery of Connemara to be a special tonic for mind, body and soul and we enjoyed the experience so much that we have decided to return next year for a two- week stay at the cottage.
I highly recommend Grace’s Cottage to you – I very much doubt that you will find a better combination of location and cottage quality in Connemara or even all of Ireland!
