NOT what we expected

Yes, the place was very spacious. And the beds were comfortable and clean. Plenty of towels. Welcome basket. Friendly landlord. The neighborhood did not match the description. Inside, some furnishings (mostly chairs) needed to be replaced. My small 10 year old girl fell through a broken chair that was covered up with a pillow. As far as sleeping goes in the master bedroom..... well there's a very unpleasant smokey smell, a strange loud noise coming from the 2 a/c's (right outside the windows), blinds that let all light in, loud traffic noise, and no privacy door = not a good sleep and no sleeping in. In the a.m., noisy vacuuming from upstairs woke up our girls. Of course my husband and I were already awake. The master bath had an outside door with glass that had no privacy covering. And there were no instructions on what to do with anything, like where to put our trash, etc. I would have given this a 3 star rating, if we could have gotten our rest. I rented this home based on all the rave reviews. Can't understand why the negatives were never mentioned in any reviews and I would have appreciated reading this one.
Owner's Response: I am very sorry Dan and Missy didn't enjoy their stay at our home. I was completely surprised with this feedback, as they didn't mention any of these issues during their visit. I was always available and would have been willing to resolve any issue that I could. This is the first time we have received negative feedback and I found it very perplexing.
In speaking to thier specifics, the neighborhood is urban, 1.5 miles from the Alamo. We and our neighbors think it's great. Most of the homes were built in the 1920's - 30's. I still think my description is accurate.
The chair has been replaced, the others are fine. I have discovered the odd smell in the master (which seemed to come and go and was more faint than obnoxious was a rug that I had purchased new, and not from anyone smoking in the home, it will be replaced)
The temps in San Antonio were in the 100's every day these folks were here, and the A/C's were working overtime. As for the vacuuming, every other Thursday I am lucky enough to have a maid come and help me clean our upstairs residence, unfortunately this happened on their first morning. Once.
The glass in the bath door is translucent, and only shadows can be visible if looking hard. The Master is a 3 room suite, which is shut off from the other rooms by simply shutting the sitting room door.
We are a unique rental, and unique won't always appeal to the masses. Feedback provided here and on other sites where I am advertised has been great. We take a lot of pride in how we present our place, and do everything we can to make sure guests are comfortable.
