The property is situated between Seneca Point and Carpenters Point, just south of Charlestown. Being on a point results in no through-traffic, and aside from the boats, a very quiet setting. We see abundant wildlife: bald eagles, great blue herons, ospreys, wood ducks, mallards, river turtles, beavers, deer and foxes. We own 19 acres of woods and marsh, and there are another 70 acres adjacent to the property full of wildlife visible by foot or by boat. In warm weather boaters anchor in the shallows to the north to on the weekends, and the nearest home to the north is a 1/2 mile away. Elite anglers have stayed here.

During the Revolutionary War, Charlestown was a major supply depot for the Continental Army. Early in the war, a British ship blockading the port was captured and its officers and men marched through the streets of town. In August 1777 the British bombarded the town as a diversionary tactic while General Howe’s troops sailed up the Elk River to land in Elkton.

Our stay at Little River Road

Review Submitted: September 25, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We stayed at Little River Road the weekend of September 20. The house was immaculate, and the view of the river spectacular!
We were 5 girlfriends, gathering for a reunion from 3 different states. We stayed in the upstairs apartment, and with the two balconies there was more than enough room for all of us to roam. There were also more than enough Adirondack chairs for all of us to sit by the shoreline to chat and admire the sail and sports boats going by. It was really quiet and peaceful, something we all needed! The water lapping on the shore was as relaxing as a massage.
Anything you could ever need is provided - washer/dryer, iron/ironing board, full-size fridge, microwave, pots, plates, utensils, comfortable beds and bedding, tvs, stereo, books and binoculars (lots of bird sightings). Much more comfortable than a hotel.
On Saturday evening we had a great seafood meal at Woody's in North East, a 10-15 minute drive. Sunday morning was Waffle House takeout which we ate at a picnic table on the balcony facing the river.
My friends and I had such a great time we are thinking of making our gathering here a yearly event! But after seeing the moonlight shining on the water on a calm Saturday night, I think my husband and I will be back much sooner for a romantic weekend:)

Owner's Response: This was this guest's second stay with us this year. We appreciate the kind words and are working to make our beach house the best rental on the Chesapeake.

Great place with a great realtor

Review Submitted: January 2, 2012 Date of Stay: December 2011
Stayed here with friends over New Years. House was in great shape when we arrived (despite the previous tenets trashing the place) and E.B. (owner) was a pleasure to work with. He was relaxed, welcoming and even let us check out a little later than originally agreed. The area around the house is nice and we took several runs and walks. House is comfortable and has everything you need and is literally right on the water. Would gladly stay there again!

Fantastic Vacation

Review Submitted: July 26, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
This is the second time we have stayed in this home and we hope to be back often! The house was very clean, the furnishings were comfortable, we had everything we needed in the kitchen, and the house was decorated very nicely. There were 10 of us staying in the house, and we did not feel crowded at all! We had a blast using the kyack, swimming in the bay and sunning on the porch. We enjoyed watching the variety of wildlife. We highly recommend this home to anyone wanting a very relaxing getaway.

Worthy of a Repeat Performance

Review Submitted: July 24, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
Our family vacation consisted of my husband, myself, our married son, his wife, their small children, ages 7 months, and 3 years. We moored a 19' boat at the provided mooring, and rented the whole house.
We had a wonderful time, no problems with the air conditioning as with an earlier reviewer, it was actually cold when we arrived, and we had to turn up the temperature even on an extremely hot week.
It was a great rental location for the children. The three year old loved the bunk beds. Both children loved playing in the sand and in the shallow water. The children and my son enjoyed the wildlife in the creek located on the side of the house. Turtles would sun on a log during the day, and Eagles and Blue Heron were spotted daily. Puzzles, games and toys were available, along with movies, books, TV's (at least 4) to providing entertainment.
We enjoyed a campfire on a cooler evening, and enjoyed a marvelous lunch at Woody's in the North East, one of the best seafood meals I have ever eaten.
As long time boaters on the Chesapeake, we found the North East to be a pleasant boating location. Typical river rock as you enter the water, but not very far out, and then a nice sandy bottom. You could tube and ski right in front of the house. If you love lighthouses like I do, the North East is just a short boat ride to Fishing Battery, Concord Point and Turkey Point lighthouses.
The home was attractive, and comfortable, and we couldn't determine whether we preferred the lower or upper part of the house best. Each area had something different to offer.
I highly recommend this vacation rental, it was a pleasant experience worthy of a repeat performance.

A great family vacation place.

Review Submitted: July 8, 2011 Date of Stay: June 2011
We rented both the 1st & 2nd floor for a week for our family in June 2011. We arrived on a very hot & humid Saturday afternoon only to find that the air conditioning was not working on the 2nd floor. One phone call to E.B. and he was there within minutes. The service company arrived shortly after and had the air unit fixed in no time. We were very impressed with the quick response.
The location is fantastic and the sunrises are beautiful. We enjoyed the eagles and the river otters and just relaxing by the water. Of course we made s'mores by the fire at night and swam during the day. The home is equipped with everything you need from TV's to blenders and also plenty of books and games. We spent a day at the Elk Neck State Park Beach and shopped in the small shops in North East. We ate at the Nauti Goose in North East, the Tidewater Grill in Havre de Grace and had the best take-out #1 crabs we ever had from Buckland Seafood in Elkton. Our 3 year old grandson loved the playground area in Charlestown. The best part about the whole trip was the fact that E.B. allows dogs and we were able to bring our black lab who just loved the water. She even enjoyed her daily shampoo after swimming. Since none of our children live at home anymore it was fun to have everyone under the same roof again. We laughed and made many new memories. Thank you E.B for sharing your home with us.
