Why Dr Richard or Karyn Conrath chose Sanibel Island
Seagrape Cottage is priced to allow our guests to enjoy Sanibel at an excellent and reasonable cost. Every detail is carefully planned for your enjoyment. Our street is one of the best on the Island: it's on the East End; near the Sanibel Marina and Lighthouse Point; and on a private road with strictly enforced access to the beach. Seagrape Lane is one of only a few roads with direct access to a very private beach. And the bike path is a few feet away. Pedal everywhere on the island. It is in a residential neighborhood so you will live with the islanders. (There is a lot less tourism on this section of the island, so it is quieter and more peaceful. East end provides easier on and off island causeway because of its location.
What makes this cottage unique
Our cottage is so close to the beach, you can hear the Gulf of Mexico in the evening. You will be delighted to sit on the back screened-in porch and listen to the sounds from various birds as well. It's a special location; and interestingly enough, only very unique people tend to choose our cottage: people who appreciate the lovely old lifestyle from by-gone days.... people who enjoy nature, the arts, intellectual pursuits, out-of-the ordinary travel, and a more peaceful concept of holiday. Being on the East End of Sanibel Island means you can walk to the lighthouse, fishing pier, marina, Lighthouse Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour. All within a 5-10 minutes stroll.
Guestbook comments from the manager
Anna told me she wanted to write something too; however, only one entry per guest booking is allowed. (She is Carter's partner from MN who said "Carry this Little Gem with Me" in the Guest Reviews.)
She told us that her favorite part of her visit to Sanibel was getting up early in the morning and running on the beach. She loved the fact that the beach was a few houses from the cottage so she could get there in only a few minutes.
During her run, she said she saw lots of dolphins and was amazed that they were so close to the shore. She hadn't seen dolphins in their own habitat before this time.
She'd then jump into the Gulf and swim for around 20 minutes (hoping to catch a ride on one of these lovely creatures;) then return to Seagrape Cottage, shower, eat breakfast on the screened porch and chill out for the rest of the morning.
Lunch was usually a 3 minute bike ride to Pinochio's famous Ice Cream Parlor a block away from the cottage. She said she "...justified the ice cream because the run equaled the calories so it was an even swap!" She and Carter already booked the cottage for this summer.
Thanks to Anna for her submission. As told to Karyn and Richard ;)
