'As soon as we got to the house, the holiday mood was set by the sight of the sea at the end of the street. It kept on getting better as we discovered the house. ACs were already running so the house was cooled down, nice touch on top of the personal welcome note. The house is really big with plenty of beds, it is incredible how much it has to offer. I think the pics don't do it justice. We were able to fire up the grill and enjoy dinner in the backyard. Bugs repellent was even provided! Finally the beach pass made us feel more like residents than tourists from the city. True that there is only one real shower, but that wasn't an issue for our group. Carolyn is very responsive and is easily reachable by phone or email. The whole check in/out process is absolutely seamless. Thanks again for saving us from a weekend in the city humid heat. Hope to come again!'

SIT AND ENJOY THE VIEWS
Watch the exciting comings and goings in the harbor from your windows or porch. The beautiful US Coast Guard tall ship 'Eagle' has its home dock just below. Submarines go by almost daily from the US Navy sub base on the opposite shore. Ferries to Long Island and Block Island and lobster boats, fishing boats and sailboats come and go to the marinas a block away. Dock your own boat, within a minute's walk, there at a transient slip. The summer of 2009 will bring visits to New London by giant cruise ships gliding serenely past.
PARK THE CAR AND WALK
Within a 5 minute walk you can be at the New London town beach (Green's Harbor) with parking, lifeguard, grassy playground and picnic tables. This beach is especially good for small children as the sand is clean and the waves are small. The family can also walk to Fred's Shanty - a real New England Clam Bar - as well as several other restaurants, Michael's Dairy Ice Cream, a cafe/market and a wine/package store. Also enjoy shopping and eating at Saeed's International Market.
RIDE BIKES OR DRIVE
Within a two mile drive is beautiful Ocean Beach Park with Connecticut's longest white sand beach and boardwalk, arcade, food, mini golf, children's rides, Olympic-sized pool, nature trails and a children's splash park. Bike riding is easy along New London's shaded quiet streets. Launch a kayak and enjoy miles of protected, quiet water in the Thames River or nearby coastal waterways.
MORE ATTRACTIONS NEARBY
Within a half-hour drive are three giant casinos, Mohegan Sun, MGM Grand and Foxwoods with unlimited food and entertainment. The family will LOVE the new Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville at the Mohegan! Also visit the U.S. Coast Guard Academy or the Navy Submarine Base with a great free submarine museum. Downtown New London, about one mile away, has art galleries, restaurants, the ferry terminal to Long Island and Block Island and the train station with regular service to New York and Boston. New London's Fort Trumbull State Park has a beautifully restored waterfront Civil War era fort with walking trails. At Captain Scott's Lobster Dock nearby, you can dine outside on fresh seafood sitting at picnic tables as you watch the lobster boats come in with their catch.
SAILFEST - THE SUMMER FESTIVAL
The weekend after the 4th of July is Sailfest time, one of the largest summer festivals in New England. You'll be able to easily get to the festival venues from the house and you'll watch the giant fireworks display over the harbor from the front porch

Why Randy Hogg chose New London
The charm of this home called out to us when we first saw it! We immediately knew that it was a wonderful place for family gatherings, with its large bedrooms, and the spacious third floor family room. We love how the first floor provides so much room for our guests to mingle. The front porch is a splendid spot to sip morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.
What makes this house unique
We are Carolyn and Randy and our hobby is welcoming guests from around the world in our three beach homes. We love New London and feel like we are on vacation ourselves when our guests discover all the great things to see and do here.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Thank you for your hospitality. It was so great to spend time in a vacation home which was so well appointed! My four year old was in heaven playing on the third floor. Our young families loved the Mystic Aquarium since it wasn't quite beach weather! We also enjoyed takeout from on the Waterfront and Captain Scott's Lobster Dock. Our families enjoyed the extra together time a rental house affords, and the location was great for our three families. We hope to be back again!
