Acadia Escape remodeled in 2008 : We have done lots of updates to our recently purchased home. All windows and doors have been replaced with energy efficient low e glass. An energy efficient furnace was also installed this year to help with green house gases and for your comfort. The electrical system has also been completely updated to all safety codes including smoke detectors in every room for your safety. In the bathroom the tub/shower enclosure has been newly tiled. The hardwood floors in the living area and the California pine floors on the entire second floor have all been sanded and refinished. As have all the original wood doors.

2012 we have upgraded, we have put a 42 inch HDTV and new pull out couch in the living area, also new carpet in dining room and new flooring in the bathroom.

A classic New England home in the heart of town
A classic New England home in the heart of town Getting to this house – with its own parking – is so easy, and it’s in the heart of town! The shops (Bar Harbor has some great shopping!), restaurants, etc are all within easy walking distance. The house itself has a wonderful charm, enhanced by the large sunny garden to the rear. It is well set out and fully equipped – even had some blueberry jam waiting for us! There are so many things you can do from Bar Harbor: Acadia National Park (so much to offer: we particularly enjoyed the Ocean Path and the Carriage Roads); Schoodic Peninsula; Bar Island – this is a must! And all to soon we had to leave! Thank you Maryellen and Augie for allowing us to share your beautiful house in your beautiful town.

Incredible location, great place to stay
We had a great time staying at "acadia escape"! It was the perfect place to come home to after a day of hiking. My husband and I worked remotely and we both had plenty of space for our laptops and monitors. The location is SO convenient to the main streets of Bar Harbor but it's also in a quiet residential road -- the perfect combination! We couldn't be happier with our time there.

True New England charmer
We stayed a week-our second visit The owners were there to welcome us and to let us know that they or their representatives would be available for questions or problems The house is commodious and has too many thoughtful and considerate features for me to list Thoroughly clean-beyond any vacation house that we have rented. Plenty of parking, so you are able to walk everywhere in town. Hard wood floors, An excellent kitchen, gas grill, outdoor or indoor seating

Wonderful Bar Harbor Property
Acadia Escape is a beautiful older home located within walking distance of the downtown shops and restaurants. We were glad to have off-street parking available, as parking in Bar Harbor can be a challenge. Augie and Maryellen were wonderful hosts, checking in with us shortly after our arrival. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose Acadia Escape again in the future!

I Maryellen was born and raised in the area, graduated from Mount Desert Island High School in 1979. Augie grew up in New York City and Suffern NY and came to visit my parents before we got married and loved the area. We got married in 1992 and have been living in Bar Harbor since then. We know the area well and can help you with ideas for your vacation plans. We live next door to the house and are available if you need us.

Why they chose this property

We are located on a one way downtown residential street, so it is quiet yet we are one to two blocks of the main street with the restuarants and shops. We are one block from the island shuttle bus, so you can park in our driveway space for 3 cars and walk to everything. We have a bike rack for you to lock bikes, a large backyard, big grill and a table and with 6 chairs to enjoy meals outside. We also have a very well stocked kichen for you.

What makes this property unique

The house has plenty of space for your family to spread out and enjoy. We also have loads of information brochures, maps, menus in the house so you can plan your activities. We have lots of games availale also.
