Outside our home:
Our home has several decks are available for your use- the larger one with the hot tub which wraps around to the front, a smaller one off the living room, and one in the front at the second floor level. Behind the house is Chilnualna Falls Creek. There's a make-shift trail that will take you through a wooded area to the main part of the river only a short distance away. Depending on the season, you can either enjoy the view or actually walk across the river! I would guess that the river is 50 to 100 feet wide and filled with smooth stones of various sizes which have washed downstream over the ages.
Local hikes:
Many people enjoy the easy walk to the Lower Chilnualna Falls and the Swinging Bridge, about a mile upstream. Walk about 500 feet to the main road, take a right, and follow the signs taking you up to Chilnualna Creek Falls to your left before the bridge. The Lower Falls is a walk of about 10 minutes, but if you're more ambitious, continue up to the Upper Falls, which will take you the beginning of the backcountry and ultimately the high country. I think the hike up should take about 2 hours. Several swimming holes, carved out of the rock can be found by looking for detours off to your right from the main path. To get to the Swinging Bridge, instead of turning off to the Falls, continue across the bridge and then to the end of the road. The trail is to your left, but the basic idea is to follow the river. You will soon get to the Swinging Bridge, which can also be approached from the other side of the river. Enjoy!
Ski:
Not everyone knows what a winter wonderland Yosemite can be. With Badger Pass, a major ski area, just 45 minutes away you can be on the slopes in no time at all.
