Locted behind China Peak, Cordwood Cabin is the perfect get-a-way for winter or summer activities. Cordwood cabin is nestled in the beautiful pines at 7200 feet in the beautiful central Sierras, just one hour from Fresno on Highway 168. Front door access to most mountain sports is available. Rock crawling, camping or fishing at remote lakes ( four pristine lakes within seven miles), sifting through the nearby stream with your kids are just a few of the activities available in the summer. Cross country sking and snowmobiling is available during winter months. We can have sleds delivered to your doorstep for hours of family fun!
Peace and quite in a small, residential neighborhood allows safety for children and privacy for romantic getaways. Two small towns are located ten (Huntington Lake) and fifteen minutes (Shaver Lake) away.
Cabin is comfortable and cozy for fun times in front of the fire. Our yard is large and private with space for a game of badminton or horse shoes. Wedding receptions have been held here!
Summertime highs average around 70-75 degrees and winter time is perfect for snow sports with temperatures from 25- 40 degrees on a sunny day.

I am a avid lovers of the outdoors. Lee is a snowmobile addict. It is my sincere hope that you enjoy my home away from home as much as I do!
LEE PARKER purchased this cabin in 2001
Lee purchased this property to be able to enjoy the 70 degree weather in the summer--it is over 100 here in Fresno and to snowmobile whenever he could during the winter time. It is the perfect area to leave from for that sport!
It is remote enough you feel that you have gotten away from it all-- not like Shaver Lake-- that just feels like a city with pines. And there are homes close enough that you feel safe. Really, we love how romantic it is at night and how much fun we can have during the day.
My family and I stayed at this sweet cabin in June 2013 and have already made plans to return again this coming June. We travel from Texas each year to visit family in CA and have made visiting the Huntington Lake area a regular tradition. Years before last, we stayed at the lake resort, loving the area but not at all the accommodations. Last year, we switched it up and stayed in this wonderful cabin and it was amazing. It had everything we wanted and was clean and cozy. The owner (Lee) is incredibly friendly and provided some great suggestions for hiking and fishing nearby. We hope to repeat the same great experience this year!
The pictures posted here don't do this cabin justice. While it is small (more what I would call "cozy") it's in an amazing location way up at 7,000 feet past Shaver Lake and close to Huntington Lake, but includes all the comforts of home -- full kitchen with relatively new appliances, TV with DVD and surround sound, gas grill out back, and even WiFi! What's even better is that there's a small creek running through the front yard which connects up to a larger creek just on the other side of state highway 168, plus there are extensive jeep trails running essentially right behind the house. Basically the fishing, hiking, and OHV opportunities are endless, not only in the immediate vicinity but for miles around.
When I spoke with Lee (the owner) on the way up, he described the place as "a little slice of heaven" and honestly I figured he was exaggerating. Once I got there however I realized he was right on the money. Hanging out on the front porch with beer in hand, listening to the creek flowing by, with the sun shining through the pine trees, it really was a little slice of heaven.
We spent a week there in late July, and the weather couldn't have been better. Mid-70's during the day and mid-40's at night. I really don't have anything bad to say about the place or the experience, although I will mention again that the location is definitely remote so it's best to bring whatever food and other stuff you want with you. There's a few markets in Shaver Lake but the prices are pretty expensive and in Huntington Lake there's really just a couple convenience type stores. Really my only regret about this place is that it's not closer to LA! I would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking to "get away from it all" but still wants to be comfortable, especially if you're into fishing, hiking, or off-roading. Apparently it's also the place to snowmobile in the winter, and I can certainly believe it. There was still lots of snow from 9,000 feet and above, even in July.
Also probably worth mentioning that Lee himself was extremely helpful in pointing out the amenities of the cabin as well as some of the great activities in the nearby area. Once again, I would definitely recommend this cabin. Rent with confidence!
This cabin was older but it was clean and close to China peak. The owners were kind and had the stove fired up for us to warm the place up. Beds were comfy. It was lacking cable or satelite but did have a dvd and vcr player. I would recomend this place to family and friends.
