OVERALL ..very nice. We had bad weather all 3 days before we had to bug out for hurricaine. BUT on the property itself .. owners were very nice. However...we tried for many days/weeks prior we ttried to obtain our "welcome package" which we never got as property manager was out of town. Many items promised where NOT there. We had NO working outside lights, we had a tub that leaked from 2nd floor (but they did have plumbers out to fix). WE had NO light in upstairs bathroom and both bathrooms could definately use some counter space for personal products. The outside light we did have blinked constatly so unusable. There was NO DVD until we requested, and NO TV as the dish kept going out. Sitting outside under deck impossible during rain as the rain comes right though. Could hardly find property at night as NO lights for address...no one there when we arrived and door was wide open. A little more attention to details and some additional glasses for beverages would big improvement. Also inside front door a mat for shoes (cause they get wet if left outside) would be a big plus. We also only had 1 wash cloth between the 4 of us. The WAsher and Dryer is there, but outside, THe jacuzzi was ice cold so we never used it.
Perhaps the fact taht the weather was just grey and rainy alll 3 days and we had NO TV (luck8ily I'd brougth some DVDs....and we did watch them) ... has clouded our opinion ... but if it had been sunny warm and 85 .... the missing amenities would have still be noticed and should be added to the household. THE BIGGEST issue was being out so far our cells did NOT work and we had NO phone unless we asked,,,we got and owners did put $10 CA on it for us .. thank God cause we had to use it to call AA for flights off island! But a working phone in such a desolate location IS a must!!! .. fior medical reasons alone!
The Reef is good for food and entertainment. Portafino's is a TOTAL RIP off ... they charged me $4.50 for CREAM for my coffee!!!
The owners of the cottage, Gary and Nadine were very nice and tried to make accomodations for us WHEN we asked .. we hope that they can take this information and incorporate it into the cottage to make it the picture perfect get away that it has the potential to be.

Owner's Response: There is nothing like a hurricane to spoil a vacation. However, prior to the actual hurricane arriving, we have lots of high (very high) winds and rain, and unfortunately, it plays havoc with the electricity. Outside lights normally do work; not with the hurricane. One of the first things to go out are the satellite dishes, as you discovered. Next is water and electricity -- you left before you lost these. I am dissapointed that these guests did not ASK Nadine and Gary for the things they wanted (washcloths and glasses) since they live right next door (less than 50 feet away) and they saw them several times -- the guests never said a thing, even though Nadine asked them if everything was fine. As to the door being open, it was -- we leave it open when we are expecting guests. The screen door, however, was closed. I don't know why this was a problem ? It also allows air flow without running the A/C. There is a land-line telephone -- knocked out with the storm, so Nadine gave them a cell phone to use. We've offered them 50% off if they'd like to return when the weather is nicer. No question it's hard to feel positive about a vacation when you have to leave 4 days after you arrive and the weather is miserable the whole time you're there.
