Adorable Bungalow, walk to LL Bean

My wife and I, a middle aged couple in search of tranquility (with a little shopping and fine dining on the side) spent two lovely weeks at this delightful cottage in Freeport, Maine in June 2008. It usually takes me a few days to unwind when on vacation but in this case it was instant-chill-out.

The cottage offered all home comforts as advetised and we immediately felt at ease. It would make an ideal holiday base for a family of 4 or 5 and OK for a larger group for a long week-end. There is a full bathroom and a decent size kitchen/dining area.

The garden is really lovely and you can sit on the deck and listen to the LL Bean concerts on Saturdays evenings during the summer months.

There is a great little market about 200 yards down Bow St. which has all the essentials - fresh lobster, crabmeat, organic beef and a good selection of wines, beers etc oh as well as regular groceries and goods. Freeport is a great town for dining and shopping.

The shopping in Freeport is legendary and my wife made full use of the opportunity to browse the dozens of designer outlets and speciality stores within walking distance of the cottage. Some days I think she only returned to allow the credit cards to cool down!

We discovered a delightful venue called the Freeport Cabaret within easy walking distance of the cottage. Its a classy piano bar with good Guinness and tasty appetisers.

If you prefare wildlife to night life then Freeport is the place for you. The Leon Gorman Park is literally on the doorstep and there are two state parks within a 5 miles drive.

We're looking forward to returning next year and I would recommend this vacation rental wholeheartedly.
