With Penthouse El Destino's peaceful setting and central location, you can choose an active or relaxed experience. It's located in the heart of Guanacaste province's Pacific Coast, Costa Rica's newest resort zone. The area offers every imaginable beach experience: sunning, swimming, sailing, surfing, scuba, snorkeling, shelling, and deep sea fishing. From our balcony, we can see the Catalina Islands, dolphins, fish and seabirds. It's a good walk or short drive to the Flamingo Marina, where fishing, sightseeing and scuba boats are anchored. Great surfing beaches, featured in Endless Summer II, are within a 30 minute drive. There are world class golf courses and resorts all along the coast, and more are being developed. If you want a break from beachgoing, there are canopy tours nearby. National rain forest parks and Arenal, Costa Rica's most famous volcano, make great day trips. There's a brand new supermercado just 15 minutes away, and a big shopping center just opened in Tamarindo.

A second large, secluded bedroom has a queen-size bed and a set of bunks with a pull out trundle (sleeps a total of 3). It also has a large walk-in closet to stow your extra gear. In the third bedroom, a set of twin beds can be made up as a king. Finally, we have a sleeper sofa in the living room and two twin-size, premier raised airbeds for extra guests, as well as a Pack 'n Play (portable crib) for little ones.

The 20 by 40 foot great room has an ocean view, entertainment center with flat screen TV, DVD player and Surround Sound stereo with Ipod dock, breakfast bar for 6, and dining table seating 8. The gourmet kitchen is equipped for entertaining. There's another 6-seat table on the terrace, along with a gas barbecue and separate sitting area. Other amenities include on-site security, air-conditioning and ceiling fans in all rooms, cable TV with U.S. channels, high speed Internet and a VOIP phone (free long distance). Despite its luxurious appointments, our penthouse is child friendly. It's stocked with boogie boards, swim fins, masks, snorkels, toys, games and books. Twice weekly maid service is included. Daily housekeeping and chef services are available. Our local property managers can pick you up at the airport, stock the place with food, and arrange anything else you need during your stay.

My wife and I spent our 30th anniversary at this condo on June 12, 2009. We could not of had a better experience and more fun. The maintenance personnel, management, and maid service are impeccable. Chris and Tom have personnel tour guides that speak perfect English and pick you up at Condo and the adventure begins. The Country is beautiful but we also recommend renting Bikes or Scooters and seeing some of the many close restaurants and Bars on your own. Great trip , we will be back with the Kids.

Our Two Weeks in Playa Portrero

We had an absolutely wonderful time on the beach. The Penthouse is beautiful and the setting so peaceful. We had fun exploring the nearby beaches and small beach villages. Playa Tamarindo wasn't too far away and we had fun looking in the little shops there. We went on a Canopy Tour and experienced the zipline for the first time. We would all do that again. We also went snorkeling one afternoon. We tried several of the local restaurants and loved the outdoor dining and the food was spectacular. It was a vacation of a lifetime.
