My wife, our 2 teens and I stayed at the beachfront Sandcastle cottage for a week and we were hoping for a relaxing place where we could enjoy the wildlife. This is exactly what we got.
The rental process with Valerie was flawless and she was very quick answering our requests. When we arrived at the cottage, we were welcomed by Scott who gave us a tour of the property and answered every single questions we had. The cleaning team was not done yet (because of our early arrival) and I happened to see the guy clean the BBQ. Man, did he clean that thing!!! He literally took it apart!. The house had everything we needed and was in perfect condition. We rent a lot of homes and this is by fas the cleanest one we stayed in. The bed sheets and mattresses were of excellent quality and the pillows looked like they were new. Everything smelled fresh.
We enjoyed the kayaks which we used every day and even got to paddle with dolphins. We saw rays, tons of crabs and many species of birds.
There are major grocery stores within 10 minute drive. The kitchen is very well furnished and we cooked our own meals all week. One of the hilights of our trip was the screened porche where we had every single meals. The sunset there is spectacular!
We will definitely return to this location!
I chose this house because the reviews were consistently strong. Each reviewer raved about the place, and yet when we arrived, I was still pleasantly surprised. The home is immaculate and the décor beautifully coastal. We felt at home immediately. Windows from floor to ceiling in the living room allow for 24 hour viewing of the ever-changing sea and sky. We spent nearly all of our time on the screened porch or on the lower seaside deck. Our plan was to have our son's wedding on the beach, but when we saw the gorgeous landscaping and stone walkway, we knew we had to hold the ceremony right there. It was perfect. Enjoy the quaint foodie joint, Becky Jack's Snack Shack and be sure to make at least one trip to Hudson to Whitney's Fish Market and get some fresh locally caught fish; the grill at the Sandcastle Beach House appeared to be brand new. For a great day trip, we recommend Honeymoon Island for some fantastic photo opportunities and an aquamarine sea. If you are cyclists, don't count on riding on Pine Island. We did a 6 mile trek and found the narrow roads and impatient locals do not support bicycle traffic. However, do not let this small detail keep you from going to this wonderful home; you will not be disappointed.
My husband and two young girls vacationed here in March. We all absolutely loved it! Scott was super helpful in giving us recommendations and advice. There ARE really dolphins that go by each day and our girls thought that was great. The house was very clean and had plenty of towels, kitchen supplies, whatever else you needed. The kayaks and water toys were an added bonus. They only down fall was that it is about a 10-15 minute trip into "town" for shopping and eating for us. We ended up eating at the house more than usual which ended up working very well. I would recommend this vacation house for sure!
This is a great place for a secluded beachfront retreat. We really enjoyed the kayaks and with it being so shallow we were able to see lots of sea life. The house and yard is amazing and even more beautiful than the pictures. A great place for all ages. I am so missing the porch!
Another outstanding vacation at the Sandcastle Beach House The house location and decor is outstanding being right on the beach. Every day we saw dolphins as close as forty yards from the house. We plan on coming back. Scott is always very helpful and is easily reachable at anytime. In fact, the AC went out on the 4th of July and Scott had the repair person there within an hour.
This home is absolutely fantastic!! The photos do not even do it justice. It is simply perfect. We had the best family vacation here. I have 3 kids under 10 and they were quite occupied here at the house and beach. The home was clean and includes everything you could need for your stay..no need to pack towels or sand toys, they have it all. Fully equipped kitchen, grill, and the most amazing deck to eat on daily. We never even sat at the dining room table..not when the views were so wonderful from the deck. Days were spent on the beach, using the kayaks and toys provided. My husband loved to go kayaking every morning after I went for my morning run on the nicely paved road near the house. We took the kayak out as a family one night and spotted 10 dolphins, jumping and swimming for us! It was quite a memory. There are plenty of beach chairs and one amazing hammock, that was my spot for the week. The home is 2h from Orlando (we went to Sea World twice), and about 1 1/2 from Clearwater (in case anyone wants to see Winter the dolphin). The owner was always in touch with us and the caretaker, Scott, was just wonderful to work with. So very helpful and available. I truly did not want to leave this place. It was the best vacation we have ever had. We WILL be back!! I would highly recommend this home to anyone. I felt like I searched for "Paradise for a family of 5" and found it in this home!!
