Photos and Description of the Jefferson vacation house rental
2 bedrooms, plus loft, 1 full bathroom, sleeps up to six people

This quintessential Colorado mountain house getaway is secluded, yet near lots of attractions. Just what you've been looking for and VERY reasonably priced, our home is located just 1 3/4 hours from Denver or Colorado Springs. Hike, bike, fish, or sight see, and return to your cozy mountain cabin with all the comforts of home. Enjoy unprecedented peace, quiet and 180 degree views of the snow-capped Rockies, meadows, trees and rock outcroppings from the 20 foot wall of windows or loft. Look for antelope, deer, elk, golden eagles, owl and bear from the wrap around 500 square foot deck.

The home sits on two heavily wooded acres, has a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace and Aspen tongue and groove ceilings. Two bedrooms offer queen beds with a full size sleeper sofa in the loft. Stay connected with wireless satellite Internet, play games from the game chest, or enjoy movies on the DVD Player/36' TV. Chef's kitchen is fully equipped for cooking or baking, and there is a gas BBQ on the deck for evening cookouts. Leave refreshed, relaxed and recharged!

Come relax, recharge, and enjoy nature and the outdoors. Enjoy a multitude of attractions in the area, with just a short ride home to the peace and quiet of your exclusive and private mountain retreat. Minutes away you can hike or mountain bike the Pike National Forest at Kenosha Pass, go trekking through the Lost Park Wilderness Area or along the Colorado Trail nearby, go 4-wheeling over Mosquito Pass (the old Stagecoach route to Leadville), Georgia Pass or Boreas Pass (the old railroad route to Breckenridge), or enjoy horseback riding.

In winter, you can cross Hoosier Pass and ski at Breckenridge or Keystone, or stay on 285 and ski at the moderately priced, less used Monarch ski resort on Monarch Pass. Lots of great winter activities in Breckenridge too including an ice skating rink and hot chocolate sleigh rides in Frisco. They also have two Nordic lodges in Breckenridge and Frisco where you can cross country ski on groomed trails. Alternatively, just rent the skis in Fairplay and do it outside your door from the cabin!

About Gary Emig

We love to travel when we aren't working on real estate in the Denver area. David is a real estate agent, and Gary helps to manage the fix 'n flip business and rentals.

Gary Emig purchased this house in 2007
Why Gary Emig chose Jefferson

We enjoy getting away to the beauty, clean air and serenity of the mountains as a break from our hectic lives. Our cabin is the perfect getaway from it all, yet still affords us many activites to get outdoors to enjoy nature's beauty.

What makes this house unique

Surreal views from every window and deck - it honestly feels like you are watching a movie in 3D! This even applies at night. When you go outside, it feels like you are in a planetarium since there is no ambient light from anywhere. You can see across the stars and galaxies and realize what a small a place our Earth is in the whole universe!

Nothing beats this...

We really couldn't ask for more ! Gary and David were exceptional in attending to every detail and making us feel comfortable. From the tips of where to explore, to the delicious brownies that greeted us, and the millions and millions of stars in the sky - it was certainly a God-send vacation. The home was cozy, clean and had absolutely everything we needed including games, DVDs and a good stock of books. It was great ! We cooked every night, and was the perfect ambience to connect and laugh as a family.

For my girls aged 5 and 8, the sleds Gary left for us to use simply made their holiday. We took them to nearby Indian Mountain, and the park in Breckenridge to sled. Centrally located, we also did drives to Buena Vista, Royal Gorge in Canon City, Denver, the Florissant Fossil Beds and ski resorts of Keystone and Dillon and still had time to get back to admire sunset at 430pm at the house. Away from it all, it was amazing to be immersed amid nature and the alpines. The drives back to the house to and from our excursions never failed to take my breath away. The vistas were simply awesome.

Thank you for the memories Gary and David ! It really wouldn't have been the same if we had opted for yet another chain hotel or resort.

Great Stay over Memorial Day Weekend

Gary and David made every step of the trip easy. The owners are excellent communicators, so you'll be in good hands from the beginning to the end of the trip. They provide detailed guides of local trails, including directions on how to get to the trail head as well as commentary on the trails themselves. The home is in excellent condition and has glorious views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Even though we were there on Memorial day weekend and there was plenty of 4WD and ATV traffic in the area, the immediate location of the home was quiet - the only thing you are going to hear while relaxing on the spacious deck is the wind, the birds and the sound of your own ooh and ahhh's The kitchen is spacious and is well equipped and we made extensive use of it. The beds were surprisingly comfortable for a rental property.

All and all we had a great trip and heartily recommend this property to others.

Blown Away...

We had been looking forward to our Colorado trip for months (talking about it for years) and halfway expected it not to live up to our expectations, but we couldn't have been more mistaken. We were blown away by how perfect the house was from the minute we pulled into the drive. It only got better once we walked through the door. The house is just beautiful and so clean and well-kept. Gary and David have truly thought of everything and really have provided all the comforts of home. Everything was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more. We've both been somewhat depressed after returning home and are already planning our return trip - hopefully in the late summer or early fall. I'm back to work today and thinking how last week at this time we were at the cabin watching a herd of elk in the distance while eating lunch in the dining room; hence, the depression. Thank you for everything - we couldn't have asked for more!

Owner's Response: Dave and Kelly, we are so glad that you that you were blown away during your stay. We strive to make our guests feel as if they were in their own home, and we let nature take care of the rest. We also have been able to see deer, and bear from our home and deck. It's almost like you are in a reverse zoo looking out!

We look forward to your fall return, and hope that the changing aspens and clean, crisp air will blow you away again. Thanks for your stay!

We had a great experience with this property and the owner. We needed to book the cabin on short notice. Gary was very accommodating and made the booking process extremely easy on our end. This was a great mountain retreat to just get out of Denver for the weekend. The views from the kitchen, living room, and patio were amazing. Very private and quiet. Lost Creek Wilderness is just minutes away. We are big outdoor enthusiasts and found miles of trails to hike and mountains of rock to climb. Great scrambling up the huge rock formations with incredible views, We will definitely be back to this property. Thanks again Gary!

Break from the Texas heat for the changing aspens!

  • Submitted: Dec 23, 2012

From our guestbook: "Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us! The views, the brownies, the cookies, and the setting were all amazing. Gary, we are fortunate to have met you when we arrived on Sunday! We were fortunate to arrive when all of the trees changed colors as well. The aspens were gorgeous. The cool temperatures were a wonderful break from the Texas heat. We even got to see snow fall at some of the higher elevations. On our first full day, we drove up to Breckenridge via Boreas Pass - Beautiful! On day two, we hiked up Indian Mountain and enjoyed some views of the valley. We were very impressed with that trail. On day three we trekked west on the Colorado Trail and were treated to some amazing color in the aspen groves. All highly recommended trips! Thanks again for this amazing opportunity. The whole family loved the experience."
