Lake Vermilion House Rental Photos and Description

Vacation Home - 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s) - 1.25 Baths - (Sleeps 9-10)

Beautiful get-away to the northwoods! Updated, quiet, year-round vacation home on Lake Vermilion--a premier north Minnesota lake on the edge of the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA). This house features knotty pine ceilings and walls, a vaulted living room ceiling, large deck off both the kitchen and living room areas which overlooks the yard and lake.

There are plenty of trees on either side of the yard for privacy and a campfire area down by the water with your own private dock. Jacuzzi Tub and Sauna in the house!

Winter rates rates available for weekends.

Sleeps up to 9. The master bedroom has a queen bed. The second bedroom has a queen bed with a single bunk plus an extra mattress which can be used on the floor for sleeping. The living room on the main floor has a fold out couch plus a second couch. There is a queen bed, a full sized bed, and two single beds in the walk-out style basement of the house.

This home features knotty pine ceilings and walls, a vaulted living room ceiling, and beautiful deck with view pictured. Beautiful sunsets seen from deck.

In the winter, there are several groomed snowmobile, snowshoe, or cross country ski trails throughout the woods and on the lake. Ice fishing house rentals nearby. Giants Ridge ski area about 25 miles away.

Weekend winter rates available please ask.

In the summer, spend your time on a nearby beach or fishing/boating on this BWCA style lake with it's natural beauty!! Much of the east end of this lake is undeveloped with glacial ledge rock on the islands and shoreline.

In addition to the natural scenery, this lake is one of Minnesota's premier fisheries and lake vacation destinations.

The fishing is excellent - musky, walleye, northern, bass, and crappie. 5000 musky stocked annually since 1987 and aggressive walleye stocking programs

A pro fishing guide is near the house for year round spring through winter fishing if you are interested in a fishing guide. Information on good fishing spots for all times of the year is provided at the house also. Walleye, bass, northern fishing is strong year-round. Good crappie fishing is available near the house in September/October and also February-March.

Ice Fishing House rental/Boat rental/Boat Launch available nearby. Canoe and paddles available.

Fortune Bay Resort with Golf and Casino is four miles away as well as many other golf courses in the area. I have information on how to get to the trails/beaches and a contact for horseback riding.

This vacation house is winterized with heat in the winter and air conditioning in the summer. Cool sleeping during those hot summer nights available with A/C on main floor and cool sleeping in the walk-out basement.

Great Up North Getaway

  • 5 of 5
My family and I just got back from a getaway at this house and it was great! The jacuzzi tub and sauna are rare amenities I guarentee you won't want to leave! The private road was great for walks and we even saw an eagle flying close to the house! Ely is only 20 minutes away if you need some "touristy" stuff to do. We got back to the cities in well under 4 hours.

we love this place

  • 5 of 5
we have come to this hideaway 3 years in a row and hope to continue for many more. our dates of stay have always been in late september or early october, so we have been able to enjoy the colors of fall and fall fishing. we cannot say enough good things about the cleanliness of the hideaway, plus the total comfort we feel everytime we stay. yes there are neighbors on each side of the cabin, one house close in proximity to cabin property and the other not at all, so yes you do know someone else is around, but other than that you are basically secluded and able to enjoy the quiet of northern mn. beautiful backyard slopes down to lake and makes for wonderful outdoor enjoyment and wonderful scenery of lake vermillion. you can sit outside on the very spacious deck and hear the rushing water of nearby pike river damn. step down "sunken" living room is so very comfortable and warm, dining area's both off living room and up around large breakfast bar in kitchen. private jacuzzi and shower attached but still separate from main floor bathroom is great. private bedroom's with queen and full size bed's, pretty good for sleeping, all windows have blinds for privacy or light filtering. linens and cooking utensils galore...washer and dryer that work great. large main floor fridge plus another in the basement. sauna and shower in the basement too. we just can't say enough good things about the hideaway..tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable, relaxing, quiet, close but not too close to town, activities, food and casino.

Great family vacation at Vermillion

  • 4 of 5
We stayed the 1st part of August and had some pretty good weather. The guest book was fun to read but right away let us know the fishing had not been all that good. We did fish a lot finding the lake to be easy to get lost on if you ventured to far. Very nice lake, took a while to get used to the dark colored water. We tryed hard all week and found the best fising just at the mouth area of the river. They were not jumping into the boat but we did catch enough for a large fish fry. My son and I both caught our 1st muskie at 42" each on the same day and did end up catching one more later. Very fun. The cabin was nice and homey and the area is nice. There is a close home right next door and things were fairly quiet there. My Niece did have a run in with a neighbor dog that charged her on her bike so I would advice to be careful as someone in the neighborhood (believe it to be the guide) has a not so friendly dog. Otherwise we were not bothered and did not fear being outside on the property at all. Overall it was a great lake to explore and fish, the cabin was very nice for a reasonable amount, and we enjoyed our stay very much. I would recommend it because I think it has a lot of value especially for someone who has a large family and needs a large space for all.

Cute cabin but beware of stray dogs!

  • 4 of 5
This is a cute cabin. Nice and clean and tastefully decorated for the North woods. We loved the presence of wood paneling throughout. It sit on a beautiful wooded site of deciduous trees. Overall, we enjoyed ourselves and would likely return or recommend it to others, except for a few caveats to keep in mind. It was not as private, secluded and quiet as we had expected. It is also not a getting away from it all property, except it isn’t in town. The freeway sits quarter of a mile away where travel going back and forth is constant day and night. You can see cars go by from down near the lake. It takes away a great deal of the peaceful nature we were looking forward to. Other homes, outhouses and RV’s are nearby with one house being just a mere 30feet away and bright mercury lights shine into the bedroom of this house. Bed linens are old, worn, and stained. Queen bed is not comfortable at all; we couldn’t get a good night’s sleep at all during our stay. The bed squeaked for every movement we made and it was as if sleeping on cement. Only 2 bedrooms are upstairs in main part; bedroom #3 is downstairs in a creepy, unheated, unfinished basement. For renters with children, grandchildren or dogs, beware of nearby neighbors’ roaming dogs that relieve themselves on this property. We encountered three different dogs that rushed at us during our five-day stay. We had no idea whether these dogs were friendly or not, as they barked and charged at us every time we went outside, even when we weren’t walking our dog. It got so bad that we had to carry a makeshift weapon to protect ourselves. On the last two days, we actually had the red Irish setter charge and tried to attack us. We love dogs. We have a dog, but we were not interested in being attacked on vacation. Evidently these dogs staked a claim here. The constant being on guard for these dogs when outside put a dent in our relaxation. This problem is ongoing, as a number of previous renters mention in the guest book about it during their stay. We were never warned about it. The owners would definitely benefit and keep their renters safe by putting up a fence. At least, talk to the neighbors about the problem before something happens. It really is a nice place, but roaming dogs are not just a nuisance, but unsafe. We did email the owner about this problem and they assured us it would be handled. Hopefully, it has been rectified. It truly is a cute little place and it would be a shame if the dogs ruin it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your four star rating, we are constantly improving things to go toward five star ratings. We have addressed this dog issue with our neighbors and are taking steps to keep dogs out of the yard. They are cooperating with this request.
