A drive of 20-30 minutes to the east leads to Newport and Lake Memphremagog for ice skating and ice fishing;or, in summer, boating, water skiing, fishing and swimming. Right across the Canadian border (3 miles away) one finds similar activities at Owl’s Head, as well.
