Beautiful, three-story home on Indian Rocks Beach overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. Fully-furnished kitchen with granite counter tops. Two king-size masters upstairs, two bedrooms on main level. Plenty of decks to view what's happening on the beach!
The Purple Beach House at Indian Rock Beach is a perfect place for a family vacation. It has all the amenities you need for kids and the adults. Beach toys and chairs - everything you need for beach fun is here, but make sure to pack plenty of sun screen! The morning walks on the beach were great and *The sunsets are fantasic. Kookie Coconut located nearby provided for quick meals and treats. Many great family memories were made on this beach. The house is perfect. The owners were very easy to work with. Waffle iron request was fulfilled! Deep Sea Fishing nearby provided us with a delious fresh grouper dinner that we cooked on the gas grill. We will be back -
Very nice property. everything went smoothly. It was very nice to be right on the beach. We had to move a few breakable pieces around because of the kids. My husband forgot his camera charger and the owner shipped it back to us at no charge.
I had to contact the owner about checking in, two days before we were due to get there, and I had to research directions to the house,as none were provided.
When I got home from the trip,I received a rude email from the owner, claiming all kinds of damage to the house and that we would not be getting our security deposit. There was no outside grill (despite it being listed in the amenities) and the garage bathroom was dirty before we got there, yet somehow it was our fault. We were asked twice (once by cleaning staff member and once by owner) if we would like to leave early! It made the check out process even more stressful. There was no broom, dust pan,mop or vacuum to clean the place, yet we were accused of leaving the place filthy. Sheets were already dirty, but it was our fault. Another issues was the recyclables. It did not appear there was collection the week we were there because it fell on New Year's Day, but we were scolded for that as well. We straightened the place and made sure everything was in its place, emptied the fridge and took out garbage. Apparently we had too much garbage, and we accused of not taking it out, which we had. A family of five plus two adults generates garbage.
The house is located at a beach access point, making it very busy and not private. It was difficult because of all the cars to leave or get in the driveway. At one point, there was a beach goer sitting on our front step! This house was not kid friendly, with glass everywhere, and supposedly we damaged a fish collectible. Yet another accusation I do not understand.
We have rented homes in NC,Hawaii and Fl and never had an experience like this. We had a ridiculously long day because of traveling delays and it was very distressing to read the accusatory, demeaning email from the owner. I am fairly certain the owner did not check out the property, and was going solely on the word of the staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the house is in a great location with super amenities! We found everything necessary during out stay including beach chairs and toys for the kiddos. There are 2 upstairs master suites with king sized beds and 2 bedrooms on the first floor. The porches all face west and we enjoyed some gorgeous sunsets! It was wonderful to just walk out the back door and within a few feet, be on the beach!!! We found Indian Rocks Beach to be very relaxing, definitely a great place for families with children. Lots of shells and the beach was not crowded, even on the weekend! There is a high chair, car seat, and pack 'n play in the first floor closet. We did move some fragile items from the living room into the dining area during our stay, and needed to watch kiddos around the 10' wide semi-steep entry stairs, but we made it with no breakage or bruises!! Was fun to walk to the Kooky Coconut for ice cream every evening, also a great place for a quick lunch or snack. Definitely a plus having it so close!! There are plenty of grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. within a few miles and LOTS of restaurants and activities (Pirate Boat Adventure, Dolphin spotting cruises, chartered fishing boats, miniature golf, souvenir shops etc.) just a short drive away in Clearwater.
It was well worth the price to stay in a private residence (rather than condo, etc.) and there were plenty of dishes, cookware and towels! The house is also well-stocked with paperback books, movies and games for the kiddos!
We certainly hope we have an opportunity for a return visit!!!
We loved the place-it is hard to imagine that the location and amenities could be any better. The house had pretty much everything you would need to just relax-3 beautiful porches (ground level, first floor, and 2nd floor), boogie boards, beach chairs, a very nice and very well furnished kitchen. A most excellent place to just go and crash and relax.
The pictures on the VRBO web site don't do the house justice. There are two excellent upstairs master suites with king sized beds (one with a beautiful study that overlooks the water), there are two bedrooms on the first floor, one with twin beds, and one with a queen/single bunk. Ground floor is 2-car garage and storage.
The house's three porches all face West. On the ground floor, the porch has chaise lounges and is separated from the beach by a berm with sand and foliage. So, you can sit and sun without having everyone on the beach have a look. The second floor porch has two fans and a great view of the Gulf. Amazing sunsets.
I can't overemphasize how nice it is to just roll out the back door and be on the beach.
Indian Rocks Beach is very mellow. I ventured up to Clearwater/Sand Key--giant condos and hotels. Indian Rocks Beach is not party central--perfect for families, low key events, and just taking your mind off work.
This place is great for little and big kids (with two caveats). Why is it great? 1) the waves on the Gulf are really mellow most of the time. Our 20 month had a blast just wading out into them and wading back. 2) the water is quite warm, particularly in the summer. We experienced 90°F water temp during our stay in June. 3) there are lots of shells and the sand is superfine powder. We built sand castles every day. 4) House is literally 40 yards from the waters edge, so no long slogs with the ton of kid-related sand/sun/water toys. 5) It is separate house (rather than condo, or attached house) so no worries or noise from the neighbors. 6) there is a shower and hose on the ground level for washing off the salt and sand. 7) there is a child high chair, car seat, and crib for sleeping in the first floor closet.
Caveats for kids? 1) Accessible fragile items in the living room area (we moved these to the dining area for our stay) and 2) 10' wide semi-steep entry stairs. FYI. No worries for us.
Extras--walk to the Kooky Coconut-excellent, weird ice cream, Cuban sandwiches and beer. Target, Publix, Walgreens, Malls, w/in 2-4 mi in Largo.
Just finished a week stay at this wonderful vacation home. Highly recommend this beautiful, spacious retreat to anyone looking for a first-class beach house.
