About ANNETTE

My husband and I met in Australia while backpacking and spent 10 years exploring the world together before discovering Ashland and The Rogue Valley. We are both passionate about nature and conservation so southern Oregon was an obvious choice. We manage the property in a sustainable manner with an emphasis on conservation, promoting a natural habitat for wildlife and a healthy environment for our guests.

We moved here from Ireland in 1996 and love everything the area has to offer.

ANNETTE purchased this farmhouse in 2003

Why ANNETTE chose Ashland

As graduates of Conservation and Land Management the property appealed immediately. It is biologically diverse on 24 acres with rolling hillsides, rich, varied woodlands, numerous gardens and magnificent shade trees creating the perfect habitat for many bird species and seasonal wildlife. The property it is close to town yet there is a true sense of being in the country.... truly the best of both worlds.

What makes this farmhouse unique

For a true Oregon experience you have to visit countryside, breathe in the fresh air and relax! Unwind in the peaceful surroundings and feel rejuvenated for the experience. Just a short and pleasant drive to the bright lights of Ashland but a world away. You will want for nothing and find it hard to leave.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I stayed at Quarry Hill Farm for about two weeks, at different times, because I was buying a new home and relocating to the Rogue Valley. It was such a stressful time but coming home to their farm was a real life saver. The quality of the character and warmth of the owners almost out does the quality of the stay with them. The cottage was perfect and the property helped me to dream up what I wanted in my new home.

A testament to how I feel about the experience they gifted me with, is the fact that I'm writing these praises nearly two years after my stay. It took me that long to get settled into my new home and I'm happy that I can finally give them their dues. Thank You Annette and Joe Brophy!

Beautiful, relaxing spot for our family gathering.

  • 5 of 5

Quarry Hill Farm was a wonderful place to spend our family vacation. There were 10 of us that ranged in age from 2 1/2 to 75 and the farm gave us plenty of space to spread out as well as gather as a group. We made great use of the outdoor spaces - decks, picnic tables, badminton, BBQ area - and the house had everything we needed. Waking up in the tipi to the bird songs every morning was an extra treat. Ashland is maybe 10 minutes away by car and we enjoyed several plays, Lithia Park and the great restaurants there, but it was nice to get away from town and back to the farm and the end of each day.

Great for groups of all ages

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 6 adults (including our 90 year old mother) and spent a full week at Quarry Hill Farm. This property is beautifully landscaped and has exquisite views, with tons of comfortable places to sit and commune with nature, with loved ones or with a journal or good book; wonderful attention has been paid to creating lots of options for sitting and enjoying the environs. In or outdoors, this space invites togetherness, but also makes it easy to savor solo time. We saw 5 excellent plays at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and spent some of our afternoons swimming in glorious Squaw Lake (thanks to Annette's great tip when we told her we wanted to find a swimming hole). We were really struck by how possible it is in this area to experience world class arts and culture, while staying very engaged with nature. We had a few meals out at some fantastic Ashland restaurants, but mostly made good use of the well-appointed kitchen (and outdoor grill) by cooking up big meals together at home. It was a great week and we're likely to go back, only next time I'd like to bring my teenage godchildren and make better use of the badmitten set. This place is fun, peaceful and a complete joy.

Wedding Party

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Annette for making our family feel welcome as we worked to pull together our son's wedding and the celebrations. Our granddaughters were delighted with Jenny the donkey and it was very kind of you to take the time to let them ride and feed her. Our one regret is not having more time to just relax and enjoy your lovely gardens and the beautiful setting.

Fantastic place in every sense

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 6 days here. The setting is magical--horse farms, vineyards, hills with stunning views. It is about 15 minutes from Ashland and 20 minutes from Medford center. The gardens and views are spectacular. The owners are from England and Ireland and the gardens reflect the wonderful British style of mashing exquisite color and plants together. The house is old but beautifully appointed with a lovely mix of antique and modern furniture. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice as well. The owners were kind, helpful and not intrusive. Everything worked well--laundry, tv, wifi, showers, etc. We will definitely return when visiting the Ashland area again.

Wonderful, Inviting, Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

I recently stayed here along with 5 other ladies during a painting workshop. It was an ideal location for us!

The grounds and gardens are beautiful with little vignettes and seating areas throughout. We gathered under the large shade trees in the afternoon and sat on the farmhouse deck in the evenings for dinner, wine and conversations. It was so relaxing to see the evening colors and watch the moon rise over the distant hills.

The hosts are charming and helpful. The farmhouse and cottage were comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The outdoor shower is pretty cool. The location is convenient with an easy drive to Ashland, Medford and Jacksonville, yet it's also very private and quiet.

If you're looking for a peaceful place to stay in the country but close to plays, concerts and shopping, this is it!

Terrific place

  • 5 of 5

We all felt immediately at ease here, from the multiple, gemutlich living spaces (the five of us stayed in the house and the cottage, but there's a tipi, too) to the gorgeous flowers in the garden and the friendly dog and carrot-scarfing horse and his donkey pal. All was spotless and well-ordered as well as very comfortable and uniquely special--beds, showers (including an outdoor one), deck and patio furniture, sofas, you name it. The kitchen was spacious, well-equipped and was supplemented by an outdoor grill. Access to the laundry shed was a bonus on our extended trip. There was a solid sound system, but we didn't even look at the TV once. Its location was also ideal for us, up in the hills but only 10 minutes out of Ashland. The hostess was warm and friendly, accommodating and helpful, but never intrusive. We heartily recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, beautiful getaway spot.
