This 1,125 SF west-side waterfront cottage is the quintessential rustic beach retreat! It is located just 2 miles from the north-end ferry terminal in beautiful Fern Cove, the jewel of Vashon Island. The setting is truly breathtaking, with tall cedar trees and unobstructed, panoramic views of Puget Sound. The house contains a main-level master bedroom with a queen bed and large bay window with amazing water views. The upstairs sleeping loft has two full beds. The vintage bathroom contains a pedestal sink and claw-foot tub & shower. There is a beautiful, updated kitchen which is a chef's delight. The main living room hosts an enormous river-rock fireplace, as well as a wall of French doors that open to an expansive waterfront deck. In addition, there is a cozy, detached guest cabin next to the house with another queen bed and more stunning views. The home is accessed via a short, yet steep, well maintained trail and stairway off of the main road. Come watch the eagles soar!

ACCESS TO HOME: The home is accessed via a well-maintained gravel trail and stairway off of the parking area next to the main road. Parts of the access are steep. There is one gently sloping switchback at the top, then a steep 70 step stairway, and then two short gently sloping switchbacks at the bottom of the trail. Total elevation drop from the top of the trail to the home is approx. 100-200 ft. Descending the trail takes approx. 5 minutes and is mildly taxing. Walking up may require substantial effort depending upon one's physical fitness, and is not for the faint of heart. However, the natural beauty and secluded waterfront setting make the home's unique access well worth the effort.

  • Reservation deposit of 25% due at time of booking, with remainder and $250 damage deposit due 30 days prior to arrival. If reservation is canceled within 30 days of scheduled arrival, no refund will be given unless a replacement reservation is secured. If cancellation is made 30 or more days prior to arrival, reservation deposit fee will be retained. Damage deposit will be returned 14 days after departure, subject to retention for damage or replacement. Rental Agreement will be sent once reservation is made. Last minute reservations accepted on a space available basis. Cleaning fee of $75 plus 8.6% sales tax will be added to rental amounts.

Adorable craftsman and very well cared for...

So many rental houses feel like they are outfitted from garage sales but this was an exception. It kinda felt like you were in a J. Crew catalog...somewhere on the east coast. Very clean, very well designed and nice simple decor......and we actually loved the short hike down because it just made it all that much more quiet and peaceful. You may be a short ferry ride from Seattle but it felt like another world. Owner was very helpful and quick to communicate. Not much more one could ask for in a vacation rental. We will be back.

Wonderful Retreat

We came from Virginia to visit our two grown "kids" and one friend, living in Seattle. We found this house on the internet, for a two night retreat for all of us. It was wonderful! Old mom here, had a time going up and down the hill from parking to house.

Found a whole Coho at the Thriftway for $3.99/lb and grilled it with lemons and onions, the only thing we could find to tie it up with, was some mint dental floss. Delicious with the fruit salads the "kids" came up with.

High tide in the afternoon, splash with Arnie and Susie jumping in and swimming in Puget Sounds cold waters. Picked some blackberries off the front porch, they where delicious!

A tremendous get away, loved it, except for the climb up and down the hill and packing all of our gear and food.

Fantastic rental!

I was looking for someplace close for a four day getaway for our family before our son leaves for his first year at college. I found it here and more,it was the perfect vacation rental. It's a fifteen minute ferry ride from Pt. Defiance and the house sits right on the water in a quiet yet desirable part of the Island. The large french doors open onto an expansive 2 tiered deck overlooking the Sound.
The only downside is it is quite a steep slope down to the house from the parking area, but it really makes you feel away from the real world. Our kids are 18 and 17 and they each brought a friend and we all agreed we would stay here again in a heartbeat.
