Lilac Haven is an Early American, Post and Beam Farmhouse that dates back to 1750. Our location is in the heart of all the excitement of the beach area, yet remains private and secluded as it is nestled back from the main road and tucked in among glorious flower gardens.
While relaxing on the private farmer's porch having early morning coffee you can listen to the birds singing in the trees and enjoy the gorgeous butterflies as they meander throughout the garden. The serenity and peacefulness of the area allows you to plan your day for a trip to the beach (about a 3 minute walk), hiking, golfing, antiquing, or shopping at nearby outlet malls.
There are three bedrooms. On the first floor is the Master Bedroom/bathroom, a sleep sofa is in the living room, and on the second floor there are two bedrooms - twin beds in one room and 2 double beds in the other bedroom, they both share a full bathroom.
By law there is a 8% Maine Sales Tax which is not included in the cost of weekly rental.
While visiting York explore the quaint coastal villages, antique shops, restaurants & pubs. Enjoy the luxurious tree lined park beginning the York Harbor Cliff walk or, a stroll in the woods leading to the Wiggley Bridge, the ending at the York River to admire a multitude of boats that include sailboats, cruisers, motorboats and lobster boats.
I love to garden so I spend much time in the yard creating a beautiful outdoor atmosphere for my guests to enjoy. I love talking to many people as they stroll on a summer day on their way to the post office to mail postcards to friends/relatives. We chat about the flowers, weather, dogs, etc. Life in York has slowed me down so I can 'smell the roses'!
The Owner purchased this house in 1996
I chose to move to York and purchase this beautiful home as I love antiques, historical homes, and walking the beaches (Short Sands & Long Beach). I was looking for a small, friendly community that was different from where I lived in the city, and I found all that and more living in York Beach.
This is a unique house with lots of historic charm, but updated amenities. It has a private porch overlooking a beautiful garden- perfect for a barbecue! At night, the lights of the amusement park light up next door and you can watch the ferris wheel spin. The location can't be beat as the shops, restaurants, arcade, and beach are just steps away.
My apologies for not getting back to you sooner--I've been meaning to email you & thank you for the lovely gift basket you left for us. Thank you again for all of your help coordinating our rental, and again for the nice gift basket when we got there! Best wishes,
