Tasteful, Immaculate, Convenient, Peaceful

We rented this house back in July 2008 and had a wonderful visit - we couldn't have been more satisfied. We visited just about every attraction in the White Mountains and this was a convenient location. This house is on the Western Side of the Kangamaugus Highway and a bit north of Franconia Notch. We were away from the hustle and bustle, but less than an hour's drive from everything - even places on the Conway side of the mountain.
The upkeep of the house was immaculate. It felt like we were the first people to ever stay there. The carpeting on the lower-level was like new as were the hardwood floors on the main floor and in the loft bedroom.
The house was equipped with a great grill on a huge deck and with every imaginable cooking need - a griddle and waffle maker, pots and pans of every size, a cheese slicer, etc, etc.
Our kids (19,18,16,15,11) had a super time playing pool, pin pong, and even some board games. There were plenty of toys for much younger children also.
Our only complaint about the property is that we were a bit hot, especially during the daytime hours (though the heat did not disturb our sleep). There's no air conditioning and only a few ceiling fans. We were there, however, during a blazing heat wave when there was absolutely no breeze. I'm told (and I believe it to be true!) that the cool mountain breezes usually keep the temperature plenty cool. The owner said that they would probably bring in some oscillating fans to keep at the house though they haven't been at the property during a heat wave before.
We would certainly stay here again if we visited the White Mountains and needed space to spread out. It was great!
Owner's Response: We appreciate your honest review Susan. Yes, since then, we have added a few floor fans should the need arise.
With exception to the heat wave mentioned above, keeping the sliders open during the day keeps the house comfortable with the cross breeze. On the main level, we have two sliding doors with screens plus an additional single door with a screen which creates a nice cross breeze. We always welcome suggestions which is how we ended up with the fans so thank you! You and your family are welcome back anytime!
