Franconia is home to Franconia Notch State Park which is only a two mile drive from this mountain getaway. In summer there is an array of hiking trails. You can also bike or walk the Franconia Notch Rec Trail, swim or boat at Echo Lake Beach, take a tram ride up Cannon Mountain or fly fish in Profile Lake. Other sites include a visitor's center, The Flume Gorge, The Basin, Boise Rock, New England Ski Museum and Old Man of the Mountain Museum. The Franconia Inn, which is one mile away, offers gliding and horseback riding. In the winter months, you can snowshoe, downhill ski at Cannon or cross country ski on the Franconia Inn's trails. The Robert Frost Museum is also located in Franconia. Throughout the year there are many local festivals. Two of the most popular are the Lupine Festival and the Top Notch Triathlon which runs right through the towns center. Franconia and nearby towns of Littleton, Bethlehem and Sugar Hill have a variety of shops, restaurants and historic sites.
