KAYAKERS PARADISE, QUIET LAKESIDE RETREAT IN MIDCOASTAL MAINE, 700$ WK

Damariscotta Cottage Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms (1 master, 1 Loft), fold out futon, 1 bath, sleeps 5-6 (4 beds).

This cozy cottage is situated twenty feet from the shoreline of quiet Dyer Long Pond in Jefferson, ME. This quiet retreat offers a rustic pine interior with all the amenities needed to enjoy your Maine vacation. Near the lower half of the lake, the cottage is nestled in dense pine and oak trees. The lake is quiet with very little power boating and is more geared towards canoeing and kayaking. It is a nature lovers spot with good chances of siting ospreys, bald eagles, beavers, turtles, loons, and many other bird species. Cottage is 15-min from the Mid-coast of Maine. Explore Damariscotta and the Penobscot bay areas for antiquing and outdoor pursuits. Close to area lighthouses and maritime museums, Pemaquid point one of the most photographed lighthouses in Maine is 27 miles. We were just highlighted as a kayaking destination in Maine's Sunday Telegram, check out the web link; http://www.pressherald.com/life/outdoors/Worth-the-Trip-Nothing-beats-an-early-morning-or-evening-paddle.html

During peak summer months June-Aug the rate is 800 a week or 125$ a night. For may and fall months the rate is 700 a week, 100 a night. There is a 3 night minimum and I do offer discounts for long stays of 2 weeks or more (i have rented for a month before). Ask about discounts for the fall, good rates for multiweek and week stays depending on availability.

waterfront: there is 200 feet of private waterfront w/new aluminum dock (2010) and float for swimming. The futon in the camp is brand new this year 2011.

pictures: please e-mail or call me for additional pictures, I can get them too you via e-mail quickly

Sheepscott golf course is 15 minutes.

Come stay in the fall and use my camp for your base for leaf viewing in the fall. The fall is an awesome time to visit Dyerlong Cottage because the crowds are gone, traffic is better, the stove is cozy, and theres nothing better then kayaking on the glass lake w/orange and red leaves reflecting off the water. Fall can be spectacular. Read my reviews, ask me for more pictures, you wont be let down, I've never received anything but positive feedback from my renters...except maybe about the bugs! but that's all of Maine.

A COMPLETE GEM!

  • 5 of 5
This is a wonderful spot! I have rented quite a few places from sites like Home Away and have generally been happy with the places, but this place was really special. When they say it is waterfront, they aren't kidding! I even think they undersell the beauty of the interior of the cabin and the lake. It was just two of us and two dogs but it would have been very comfortable for a family or another couple.
We were treated to an amazing full moon over the lake on our first night and despite chilly temps neither of us wanted to go back inside. Of course, inside we were delighted with the woodstove that kept us toasty all weekend long. Our dogs were in absolute heaven as well. The house is well appointed, a great place for a leisurely vacation of doing anything you want--or nothing at all!
The area was lovely--the last of the beautiful fall foliage delighted us, some nearby hikes were wonderful, and of course we had to go out on the lake! Every afternoon we enjoyed a sunset paddle.
Damariscotta was a very cute place for an afternoon jaunt and a yummy lunch and we can't wait to come back.
I cannot recommend this place enough. It might not be "fancy" but you will be more than comfortable and if you do nothing but stare at the beautiful lake you will come back refreshed and relaxed!
One final note, Lucas was wonderful to work with. He seems to really take pride in this property and it shows.

PEACEFUL LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
We have rented a number of cabins and this is our favorite by far. The cabin itself is so cute, cozy and comfortable. It gives you the feeling that you are deep in the woods but has all the amenities that you would need to make your stay perfectly enjoyable. It was apparent to us that there was a lot of thought put into achieving this and we couldn't have been more appreciative of that! Just what we were looking for! The location is great, when you sit on the deck, you hear nothing but the call of the loons and the croaking frogs - we even had an eagle saor overhead - the deck is so close to the water that you can sit and have your morning tea/coffee and have a live nature show unfold in front of you. We filled up the hummingbird feeders on the deck and got a kick out of watching them feed and fight over them all day long! The cabin location was great - we could easily head out daily to some of our favorite lobster spots- completing our classic Maine get away plans! Our dog loved swimming in the lake and jumping off the dock - he was a little upset the day we left, he thought we had moved to this wonderful location! We told him - as we headed home - that we would be back again - that seemed to make us all feel better!!

Owner's Response: Thanks for noticing all the work we put into the place. It makes it much easier to rent when we know there are others out there that appreciate what we do. When travelers appreciate the good things in life and understand the uniqueness of our place they are more likely to take great care of it like you guys did. This is the kind of exchange that is a win win for everyone and keeps us wanting to share our place with people down the road. Thank you and hope to see you again

PERFECT AGAIN!!

  • 5 of 5
Well ..my family really enjoyed the month of August in the cabin. We had good weather and very good fishing:) My daughter and her husband spent the month with us rowing the canoe, fishing from the dock and canoe, enjoying watching wildlife and going to Clark's Farm , right down the street, everyday for fresh food!
We wish we could go back in 2013 but we now have a grand daughter and hope we can all make it back in 2014 with the whole family.

PEACE AND SOLITUDE

  • 5 of 5
We just spent a week at your "Camp" cabin on the lake. It was just perfect for us - so peaceful and quiet! And the view of the lake from the cabin is outstanding. The weather was a bit cool during the week so we did not swim, but sitting on the deck and reading was wonderful. We took a couple of excursions to Rockland and Camden for lobster and that was lots of fun (what wonderful little villages they are!) If you are looking for the luxury of a Hilton Hotel this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a really cute cabin with everything you need in a beautiful location this is it!

PERFECT!

If you like stepping into another land then Martin's Cabin is it! Peaceful and truely a place away from it all. The listing description was accurate. The cabin was clean and well maintained. My family is planning to go back again for a longer stay next year. My daughter and her husband will try to rent for the month of July next year. Bring a GPS to find your way around and back to the cabin. Thanks Lucas for a wonderful vacation.
