Further details for this vacation condo rental in Quebec City, Quebec

The Neighborhood: Located on a quiet street, the entrance to la Maison Ursulines incorporates the 'Grand Level' or first level of a keyed building constructed of cut limestone in the Neoclassical tradition. Upon entering, you are greeted by a pair of carved wood and stain glass entry doors leading to a private interior foyer ... The residence of Louis-Philippe Pelletier, Quebec's Supreme Court judge in the 1890s and the judge in the trial of the King versus Marie-Anne Houde.

Grand & Lower Levels ...The Best Of Both Worlds: The 'Grand Level' has 12 foot ceilings plus restored original Corinthian details and includes a living room with 9-foot high shuttered windows (overlooking Upper Town's charming square), formal dining room (seating for 10), complete kitchen, breakfast room off of kitchen, a full bath and a library/office. Floors are antique narrow-strip polished natural finish Canadian maple. The 'Lower Level' presents an intimate ambiance with its profusion of rustic stone walls, decorative fireplace and hued wood beams. The two bedrooms and a relaxing family room (or third bedroom) all have clerestory windows and polished walnut finished wood floors. The bathroom on this level is inset into a room with exposed stone walls and features one of two contemporary glass shower stalls, ceramic tile floors and a refurbished period claw-foot tub. Decorated with antiques, 'over stuffed' country French furnishings and an eclectic art collection; it's a sophisticated yet very comfortable environment.

The Seasons: The Summer Season Reserve this elegant home for an unforgettable visit. The summer months are a wonderfully mild season in this magical city with special events daily including New France Historical Celebrations just down the hill and the Changing of the Guard just up the hill in La Citadelle. Throughout the summer, the Old City overflows with window boxes and hanging flower baskets. For high energy fun, consider The New France Festival' or 'The International Québec City Summer Festival' that transforms Old Québec into a giant outdoor stage. Over 500 shows of every description are held at some fifteen venues within easy walking distance of this elegant accommodation.

Other Activities: dog-sledding, snow mobile, snow-shoeing, wildlife viewing, whale watching day trips

The Best Part

We had a wonderful time in Quebec City, and the best part was staying in your lovely home. We found the house very comfortable and convenient to many places. The people there were very friendly and enjoyed just listening to French conversations everywhere we went. We wished that we could speak the language ourselves.

Thanks again, Jeff
Owner's Response: Jeff,
Thanks for the kind words. We look forward to your enjoying la Maison Ursulines again in the near future. Best, Paul

We'll Be Back!

GeorgeP2 Newport, RI, USA
Review Submitted: December 28, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2008
What a great home and location, right in the middle of the old city but on a quiet side street. Church bells pealing and horse hoofs clopping; it's just like the Ile d'Cite in Paris ...but actually nicer. The Old City is more like a large village than an over-whelming city. Great for strolling around and soaking-in the wonderful ambiance.

The deli two doors away is perfect for the morning pastry, a quick lunch snack or a great bottle of wine or beer. At least six or seven great restaurants within a one minute walk …no kidding.

What a great accommodation. Great layout allows for 2 or 3 couples while allowing for privacy for everyone. Both full bathrooms and off of hallways so there's no need to disturb anyone. The library/office is great and the dining room table easily seats 10 or 12. This would be a great spot for a party or a family gathering.

We are already planning our return. George

Perfext In Every Way!

Review Submitted: October 7, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Right in the heart of Upper Town and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, just as advertised. This is a very spacious home, great for us since we were 2 couples ...lots of "private space" available. Library/ Office was a treat, was able to connect and relax! Property is maintained in a spotless condition. Antiques and great art work every where. Great deli just doors away ...Le Conti at the end of the street, Le Chateau just around the corner.

Church bells pealing, flowers every where, great food, museums right next door, we'll be back to la Maison Ursulines, our new "home" in la Belle Ville de Quebec
Owner's Response: Thank you for your response and kind words. Our team works very hard, every day to make sure each guest's stay is special and well thought-out. Thank you again for your kind remarks. Best, la Maison Ursulines, Quebec

Mary and I stayed here for 6 days in Sept 06. Hoping to visit again in June 07 we've had book(in February, mind you)for Sept 07 because the house is so popular. Our consolation is that we'll be staying for 2 weeks this time.
