May we suggest passing your time by: rocking on the porch, sitting under the outdoor pavilion watching wildlife, building a bonfire and toasting marshmallows, listening to the nearby creeks, or just enjoying the magnificent view of Mount Pisgah. Walking trails are also located nearby.
To add to the unique charm of the home, we have updated the matresses, but kept the original iron beds & springs and many other pieces of the history that have made this home so special. This home belonged to our Grandparents Frank and Texie O'Kelley. It has been in our family for over 100 years. We wanted to be able to share it and let others enjoy a little bit of history.
We are very convenient to Asheville & The Blue Ridge Parkway. Easy to access but still far enough out to get away from it all. 16 acres of pasture to roam around in.
I was a little unsure of this house because of the distance to Asheville. As it turned out, it was closer than I thought. The house itself is beautiful. The grounds, the furnishings, the goats!!! I spent a lot of time on the porch just sitting and relaxing. Perfect for our daughter's graduation gathering. And the wifi was very strong as well.
This is the kind of country home that makes you want one of your own. A never-ending array of things to look at throughout the home, anything you could ever need to comfortably entertain, and an amazing backyard. Definitely one of the most successful bonfires I've ever been a part of, under the stars, surrounded by friends.
Thank you so much for the Southern Hospitality...We enjoyed our week stay and look forward to coming back next year...just bring clothes and groceries and your all set...Thank you again...see you soon
My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the O'Kelley's Farmhouse. My children couldn't get enough of the goats - they constantly wanted to find grass and flowers to feed them! The swing was a big hit with my older daughter - she was always challenging us to swing her higher. I farmhouse reminded me of my grandmother's home - the smell, the kitchen sink, and all the delightful decor around the home. It brought back wonderful memories of childhood.
My family and I were able to enjoy roaming Asheville since we were just a short drive away, and we enjoyed a short hike through the woods from the house. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the farmhouse to friends. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
The porch is awesome. Home sits close to the road but not much traffic. Temps were great in this mountain setting. Brook running close to property can be heard from porch. Goats like to pretend they are fighting which is quite humorous.
However, the bed frames need tightened and the mattresses need replaced. Especially the master bedroom.
This cabin is perfect for any family with young children. Our kids ran and played in the huge field, pet the goats, and admired the horses. We even got to pick our own corn to cook on the grill. Only 20 minutes from Ashville. Very charming and quaint. I would stay here again.
We are at the base of the Blue Ridge Parkway. 15 - 20 minutes to Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, Cradle of Forestry and many other inviting attractions located on the Parkway. Also, we are about 20 minutes to the Biltmore Estate, or downtown Asheville.
