Step into a different world. Lake Atitlán is one of the most exquisitely beautiful places on earth. Surrounded by volcanoes and steeped in indigenous culture, it's an intoxicating place to spend your vacation. Palatalik is a lovely, comfortable new lakeside house, designed by a Guatemalan architect and built by local craftsmen. It's on the 'car free' side of the lake -- accessible only by water taxi from the nearby town of Panajachel. Wake up to the sunrise over Atitlán and Tolimán, two of the three volcanoes visible from our house. Fall asleep watching the natural light show created by storms caught miles away behind them. In between, you can swim from our dock in the clear, cool waters of the lake, walk to a nearby restaurant for lunch, take a boat to a nearby village to study Spanish, climb the volcanoes, or ride horses...or just hang out on one of the three terraces and read or watch the local fisherman go by in their wooden canoes. The house is great for families.
