I stayed at this home with a group of women for the weekend. House is large, spacious and beautiful. Quite setting. Not too clean - dusty corners, lights, and behind doors. Kitchen was minimally stocked and the garbage disposal overflowed. (Maintenance was quick to fix the next day.) Mildew under the kitchen rug. Not enough blankets for all beds. Supplied with 1 kitchen dish cloth and 1 kitchen towel for 4 days and 7 women. Dishonest housekeeping. Property Managers not friendly, helpful or concerned with the integrity of their housekeeping staff. After our experience, we wouldn't return.
We last rented this property approximately 4 years ago with friends. We found it to be a wonderful property, nice, neat, clean, new and cared for. When we decided to rent it again with our family we were excited to return. Unfortunately, we found it to be much less satisfying this time around. Upon arrival, we learned that the elevator was not working. One of the main reasons we selected this property was because of the elevator. Our 85 year old Grandmother has a tough time with stairs but loves to spend time with her family at the beach. Unfortunately, the elevator service repair could not happen until Monday making it quite a challenge for the first 2 days! When we arrived Saturday the pool was not clean. We had multiple storms throughout the week and the pool was cleaned one time only. Under the house was dirty, spider webs and bugs in every corner, showers were disgusting and it was dark and hard to see to use them, there were mounds of leaves and dirt. It was obvious it had not been cleaned in months. Wifi was sporadic at best. We called and let Island Realty know. They sent someone out to fix it and it was touch and go the entire week. The shower in king room on top floor was filled with mold and mildew. Furniture was soiled. Slip covers in the sun room need cleaning. Grill was filthy and had food particles stuck in it. Had to give a good scrubbing before we could use. Fabric headboards on both downstairs king bedrooms were filthy and a health hazard. We covered with blankets and sheets so our heads wouldn't touch. We had ants when we arrived and we immediately called Island Realty. The house was sprayed for, but the ants came back 24 hrs later. Furniture on decks needs attention. Some of the rocking chairs are broken. Fans on deck need attention as well. Property manager came by on Monday in person to make sure our issues had been addressed. She was nice and concerned. However, that was Monday and our issues continued throughout the week. We clearly understand that it is a rental property and there are going to be issues. However, the number of issues we had is beyond acceptable.
The proximity to the beach is good and the beach path made it easy to get to the beach. The section of beach, at low tide, is wonderful, big, and flat and not very crowded. The house offers plenty of space for everyone to be together or alone, inside and out.
We stayed at this property for 4 nights in early May. The house had plenty of room for a total of 14 people. We never felt cramped. The beach is a short walk away. The kitchen is large and it has all the pots, pans, etc. for getting meals prepared to feed a large group. One drawback is there is only one refrigerator. Luckily we had brought coolers to store beverages. The only complaint I had was that the swimming pool was dirty and could not be used. It was obvious that it had not been cleaned for many weeks. There was a huge collection of leaves in the bottom of the pool along with leaves floating on the surface as well. Overall though we were pleased and would stay here again.
This is a very spacious home with up to date amenities and in a great location close to the beach and to the Boardwalk. It could easily accommodate up to 3 families. A few drawbacks were; 1) the pool does not stay clean for more than a day due to the trees surrounding it 2) the Back porch does not have screening so mosquitoes were bad at night time 3) the kitchen refrigerator is not quite big enough for a full load of groceries. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would rent the home again.
Our family has rented about a dozen places at Wild Dunes over the years but this home topped them all! We vacationed here for a week with four generations of family and friends and we could not have been more comfortable and pampered. The house has a wonderful floor plan, spacious and very well constructed. Even with a crowd, noise was never an issue and we absolutely loved the THREE different living areas (and the elevator). The furnishings were understated but oh so elegant and lovely. The home just exudes graciousness and quality. Even though the home is not oceanfront, the views of the ocean were even better than expected and the ample porches were perfect for al fresco dining, playing cards, rocking babies, or just watching the kids play on the beach. VERY short walk to the beach with no streets to cross. Sunrises from the huge rooftop deck were awe-inspiring. The pool was wonderful...very refreshing and deep enough that even the young adults in our group were happy to hang out there rather than making the short walk to the Wild Dunes pools. Everything we needed was available, from kitchen amenities to pool/beach chairs and toys. Plenty of parking (at one point we had five cars in the driveway) and an easy walk or bike ride to the Grand Pavilion area of the resort. The owner was a delight to work with, despite my many questions before our arrival! Fabulous house in a great location...you will love it!
This home is far more luxurious than the pictures indicate. Great for entertaining. We stayed during Thanksgiving last year and entertained a large crowd. There was ample room for everyone to sit and chat and eat. The porches provided additional space to relax and enjoy the closeness to the ocean. Loved the outside showers, the walkway to the beach, the top floor deck for watching sunrises, the open floor plan, well equipped kitchen, bedroom linens, master bathroom and walk in closet--all contributed to make this home an extraordinary value. Not much parking space and limited kitchen linens a bit inconvenient, but all in all, a wonderful vacation home. Would definitely return.
If you choose to explore outside the resort, conveniently located 20 minutes away is historic Charleston. Here you can enjoy everything from shopping and dining to horse drawn carriage rides along the cobblestone streets.
