This home is awesome - amazing kitchen; lovely den; two fantastic bedrooms; and a kitchen-diner and living-room that we could never imagine! We loved every bit of it, including the patio with it's views; the giant Weber bar-b-que; the hummingbirds who we coaxed by feeding them lots of sweet water; the velvet dark nights when we could see every star in the sky! It was perfectly clean when we arrived and the garden and all the grounds are really well maintained.
The high points were many - here are but a few:
1. The trails which are everywhere, and suitable for all fitness levels. The scenery on every one we tried is just stunning.
2. The wild coyote who shyly peered at us for about five minutes on one of our early trails before running off into the trees. He obviously decided that a couple of Irish people were no match for other high desert delicacies!
3. The hummingbirds who delighted us every day with their aerial acrobatics when drinking from the pool (which we kept replenished) and frequently displayed their more aggressive nature when they did not want to share!
4. The roadrunners who ran diagonally across the road near Soldiers' Pass Trail - we had not seen any of these wonderful creatures in real life before and were delighted with the experience.
Be sure to obey the Nepenthe rule that requires cars to be kept off the road (i.e. in the garage).
Avoid the over-priced Italian restaurant) at Shelby and 87A.
Try the Cowboy Club in uptown - expensive, but good food and a nice atmosphere.
For good value buffalo fajitas try the Mexican Restaurant (can't remember the name) near the Airport Road on the right side of 89A heading towards the Y.
We drove the Mojave desert, the painted desert, Navajo Nation, all over Red Rock, Jerome, Cottonwood, Flagstaff – the whole area was absolutely amazing!
We have already recommended this rental condominium to friends and relatives and intend to return some day.
