Overview

Antlers at Vail House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

Come stay at your home away from home in Vail, Colorado!

Ski to the house from 'Born Free', the ski run leading to the gondola. The house is 120 yards from the ski run and overlooks the magnificent Gore Range Mountains. Named 'Chalet du Soleil', this charming four bedroom home is within easy walking distance of fine restaurants and shops. The house is on a large lot. Sledding and playing in the snow can be enjoyed by those with excess energy after skiing. We provide the sleds. The house is equipped with all the amenities you are accustomed to in your own home.

The house comfortably accommodates up to ten people. The master suite features a queen-size bed plus whirlpool tub for two (jacuzzi type) and separate shower room. The other main floor bedroom includes a queen-size bed, bath/shower, and an expansive bay window. The third bedroom on the upper floor has a queen-size bed, two twin-size beds, plenty of closet space, and a large vanity sink area.

The fourth bedroom is, in fact, an adjoining studio-apartment with king-size bed, queen-size hide-a-bed, compact kitchen, full bath, and large walk-in closet. All beds are made up in the Swiss-style with comforters, extra pillows, and ironed sheets. Smoking is not permitted.

The owners, Fred and Thea, live in the house next door and will be happy to make your stay a pleasant one! Their daughter, Heather Kehoe, lives in Eagle and manages the property.

About The Owner

Thea says, 'The character of Chalet du Soleil is incomparable and is sure to please.'

Fred and Thea Rumford have owned this charming mountain home since 1966 when it was built as a weekend getaway for their family. Skiing is a large part of their lives. They have raised their children to grow up with a tremendous appreciation for the alpine lifestyle and they take great joy in now seeing their grandchildren follow in the ski tracks of their parents.

The Rumfords also take pride in upgrading and maintaining their beautiful home each year. Last year the kitchen was completely remodeled...it's lovely...

The Owner purchased this house in 1966

There was enough space for everyone to have a niche and the three levels were great for the three generations that shared the house. Heather was always available when a question about the property arose and was prompt with her help. Being able to park the car, except for grocery runs, was an added plus. The walk along snow covered Gore Creek was therapeutic, the nice yard for snowball fights after skiing further expended the children's energies and the lighted trees seen from the living room window every evening was magical. The crock pot provided freed everyone during the day to explore their own interests. All in all a great week!

Great house

  • 5 of 5

We had a great trip out to Vail (6 guys) and the location of this house was one of the key reasons. The nicely kept house had all the amenities we needed, was a short walk to the mountain and very convenient. Only used the car once to go to the larger Safeway (2 miles away), but you could probably get most of the necessities in Lionshead making a car unnecessary. Heather (owner/manager) was great and very responsive to anything we needed. We would definitely come back.

The house is fine. It is an older home but kitchen and baths have been updated. It is as described and everything worked. We were 12 including some infants and it worked out well. The manager, Heather, is great and easy to work with. And she asked to be notified right away if there were any issue. There were none. The location is a couple hundred yards off the run leading down to the Lionshead gondola. We would walk (or get dropped off) at the end of Forest Road and ski down to the gondola. One caution: with fresh snow we skied back to the house via the road -- once. It is easy to do but we did not realize the snowplows also drop gravel or rock salt -- which put some nasty grooves in our skis. After that we walked home or got picked up.

great mountain home

Best house i ever stayed in my entire life. Great location for skiing, you don't even need a car to get to ski location or stores. it is only about 10 mins walk from everything you need. The price is also good for around 10 people to stay.

Perfect Place to stay in Vail

  • 5 of 5

I visited Chalet du Soleil for an annual Ski trip that I plan for a group of 9 friends. It was the perfect place for us. Tons of space to sleep and lounge around after an exhausting day on the expansive Vail slopes.

The slopes are an easy 30 yard walk and if you're adventurous you can easily ski right into the back of the house. It was very clean with ample dinnerware and flatware for over 10 people. The complementary bottle of wine, cheese, crackers and chocolates were a great touch.

We will definitely return with the group next time we are in Vail and I will be bringing my family next year.
