Visit Clearwater or St.Petersburg on the western shores of Tampa Bay, St. Pete is the cultural centre of Pinellas County and like neighbouring Clearwater is divided into two parts, with the downtown heart on the mainland linked by causeways to a barrier island beach. Downtown St. Pete looks out over Tampa Bay behind it's landmark pier and new BayWalk shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, which opened in autumn 2000. Alternatively, head to the East for Daytona Beach or Cape Canaveral. A seamless run of beach communities spills down the coast, from Cocoa Beach down to the Treasure Coast around Fort Pierce and Vero Beach. Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area is a great place to stop off with two jetties and a catwalk giving access to waters teeming with Bluefish and Spanish mackeral.
