The apartment is spotlessly clean and well maintained and your warm welcome includes gift a basket that awaits you with a bottle of wine, a few snacks, fruit and provisions to prepare a light pasta dinner to get you through the first evening. This is the type of thought and care that goes into making guests feel comfortable at the Olivia apartment.
NOTE: The 'Instant Quote' & 'Book It' rates provided by HomeAway/VRBO are unreliable and inaccurate. The price per night is higher for shorter stays and for more than 2 guests. Located off of Via di Santo Spirito the Olivia apartment is in a terrific location in the historic center on the Oltrarno side of the river. So convenient to the sites, the highlights of Florence are all within walking distance.
The apartment is in a 15th century apartment building on a narrow street lined with other historic apartment buildings, artisan workshops, restaurants, small shops.
The apartment is on the 4th floor (5th North American designation) with no elevator. A great way to balance the wonderful food and wine of Florence.
This is a two-level apartment with the living room, kitchen and one bathroom below and the bedroom and a second full bathroom upstairs. The open kitchen which is just through the front door is fully equipped. An handsome expandable antique dining table has seating for four. Tasteful antiques, excellent maintenance and thoughtful touches make this a comfortable, homey apartment. The location is terrific.
The living room is quite spacious with attractive original wood beams on the high ceiling. Two large living room windows admit plenty of light, a nice feature of the apartment because it is high up in the building. The sofa is comfortable and opens to sofa bed that can accommodate two people. An ottoman in the living room converts to a single bed as well.
Next to the charming antique writing desk is the downstairs bathroom. The bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, are nice in the apartment with attractive tiles and fully enclosed showers. The fact that there are two bathrooms makes the living room sofa bed arrangement particularly convenient for guests. The living room TV has satellite so receives some English language news channels.
The bedroom is on the second level, reached by 14 steps up. It is a cozy, pleasant space with skylight, good storage space behind an attractive curtain under the eaves. There are good reading lamps on the night stands on either side of the bed. The bed can be made up as one large bed or two singles. Off the bedroom is a full bathroom with enclosed shower and a separate laundry room.
Pricing: We have done our very best to fit our pricing into the 'Book It' and ‘Detailed Price’ rate system provided by this advertisement, but the results aren’t precise. Consequently, we apologize that we have to say that the price provided by this advertisement is just an estimate. The Owner purchased this apartment in 1800
This apartment was so comfortable and well-equipped that it made a great vacation even better. The kitchen is small but very well organized. The sofa is big enough for two to relax comfortably and the Internet connection super-fast. The mattress is Memory Foam, I think, and better than ours at home. The bed loft ceiling is really low on one side of the bed. It would be a problem if you're both tall. The Oltrarno location is ideal. We enjoyed the many church bells. The 68 stairs up to the apartment aren't easy, but hey! It means pasta and wine without guilt.
After spending the month of September, 2014, in the Olivia apartment, we decided that the more apt name would be "Olivia Perfect." It did not take long for us to feel at home in this charming apartment, especially after being greeted by the welcoming and friendly owner, Angela, whose children were there to lug our large suitcases up the five flights of stairs for us. Angela not only gave us a thorough tour of the apartment upon our arrival, but also provided us with a welcome basket, which included spaghetti and sauce to fix for dinner, cookies, coffee, bread, jam, and juice for breakfast the next day, and a bottle of Chianti to boot! This was very thoughtful and most appreciated after our overnight flight.
Over the course of our 28 nights in the "Olivia Perfect," we came to fully appreciate its many amenities and Angela's lovely taste, including the well-equipped kitchen (with both American and Italian coffee makers, I might add), lovely decor with pictures and paintings of Florence, embroidered sheets, comfortable sofa for reading and relaxing, air conditioning, washer AND dryer, and the ultimate feature--TWO bathrooms--one for each of us! Not only were we delighted by the interior of the apartment, but the location proved to be ideal for us. The Ponte Vecchio was a five minute walk and the furthest tourist sight only 30 minutes away on foot. We were very pleased that we chose the Oltrarno area, which, at the end of the day, provided a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the Florence city center.
We cannot thank Angela enough for providing such a cozy and comfortable place, and to Pat of Italy Perfect for making it all happen. They thought of everything! The "Olivia Perfect" was such a perfect fit for the two of us that, not long after returning home, we decided to go back to Florence and stay for a month again next year. We have recently booked our stay at the Olivia, where we are sure we will fall in love with Florence all over again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay...the accommodations were comfortable and the location was perfect. Angela, the Owner was delightful and her husband was nice enough to help with the luggage up to the top floor...we loved staying in this area in Florence. I would highly recommend working with Italy Perfect for your future visit to Italy..we certainly will do so when we are fortunate enough to get to Italy the next time around.
We loved out stay at Olivia. The owner's son, Niccolo met us at the apartment, graciously showed us around, and presented us with a generous welcome basket full of items to tide us over until we could get to the store. The apartment was clean, well furnished and very comfortable. We spent a total of 5 nights at Olivia and wish it could have been more. We easily walked to all the tourist destinations and shopping. My husband is an early riser and would go out for a walk before the rest of us woke up returning with the most wonderful breads and pastries from the many little shops located close by. There was also a grocery reasonably close by to purchase items to make our stay more homey. We also took a wine tasting tour to the nearby Chianti region from a wine tasting school located about 4 blocks from the apartment that we would definitely recommend. If we ever visit Florence again, I would definitely stay at Olivia. We would also rely on Italy Perfect to help us locate a place to stay if we ever go to one of their locations. They were extremely helpful with directions and advice. This was our first trip to Europe, and we would have definitely been lost without them. A word of advice to any novice travelers (such a ourselves) is to be mentally prepared for a hectic arrival to Florence. As forewarned by Italy Perfect personnel, Florence is not car friendly and not the preferred way to arrive to the city. However, our circumstances for the rest of the trip required that we have a vehicle. After dealing with traffic, locating acceptable longterm parking, dragging our luggage through some "wrong turns", and seeing some less than desirable situations, I was a bit frazzled and doubting our decision to stay in the historic area. However, once we reached the apartment, it was all worth it! I would definitely do it again and recommend the experience to others.
We were looking for a spot in Florence that would be close to the action but away from too much noise ... Tough call! With the help of Pat at Italy Perfect (I am a big fan of Pat), we booked Olivia on via San Spirito. It was perfect! The apartment itself is lovely and has two levels which gave the four of us a little privacy, and two baths, one up and one down-- it handled four ladies' needs to a T. The kitchen is very adequate, the decor, lovely. The location put us close to ponte Vecchio, the Boboli gardens, as it is just one short block south of the River. There are a couple of great restaurants on the street and a tiny, well-stocked grocery store just a few yards away... I would absolutely recommend it!!! The only thing is the climb to the fourth floor, but once you are up there, it is so worth it ;-)
Did I say that the owners were most accommodating?
