Casa de Mariposa es una preciosa casa!



From the moment we arrived the sun was shinning on our tennis gang of 10. The double units on Siesta Key were a perfect fit and we enjoyed the well appointed surroundings and special views from the many balconies. The hardest choices were who gets which room. We named the third floor as the Imperial Suite (2) bedrooms, followed by the second floor as the Balcony/Kitchen suite, down to the first floor rooms affectionately referred to as the "kids" suites. The units were spic and span, well stocked and appeared very well tended.



With the across-the-street access to the beach, we never missed a day of swimming, strolling and some bicycling. Sunrise, Sunset maybe a song from Fiddler on the Roof, but we never missed the view. Early sunrises, and awe inspiring sunsets are the norm from Casa de Mariposa . Following ocean swims we certainly enjoyed the lap pool at the Casa and had several card games that went late into the night.



If we were to give Casa de Mariposa a rating, we all agreed it deserved five star fish, or maybe five butterflies. We're counting the days until our next visit back. Thanks for allowing us to share your lovely home.

It was Perfect!

We stayed at the Casa this weekend and it was perfect! The accomodations were great, especially the master bedroom and bathroom with a great view of the beach and ocean. It was wonderful taking a shower while viewing beautiful siesta key. We had 8 women and the houses accomodated us without a problem. The pool was the perfect and so was the maintenance man. We had a few small issues, but he was there immediately to address them. We look forward to spending another ladies weekend again in the future.

Breathtaking Venue

We rented the beach house for a small wedding reception and it could not have been more perfect! All of the rooms were beautiful and well decorated, not to mention the entire house was very clean and well maintained for rental property. The home was fully stocked with everything you would need for your stay from glassware to beach gear! The owner was extremely pleasant and very attentive to our needs and details. Private beach access was right across the street with very little tourist however plenty of parking for all the guests who did not stay the weekend at the house in the public beach parking less than 1 mile away. Lots of shopping and restaurants in a small shopping village less than a mile in the opposite direction. The event was perfect, with no disturbances from any neighboring homes and passers by. I would highly recommend this property to anyone! Thank you so much for the most memorable weekend of my life!

Perfect Beach Palace

We rented this beautiful home for our "Girls' Getaway" and it was perfect in every way. We were a short walk to the beach as well as a short walk to the cute little downtown area that had great shops and bars and restaurants. The house was clean and lovely on the inside. Each bedroom had its own bathroom, which was great for 6 women sharing 3 bedrooms. We could not have picked a better place.

A Short Stay - Will Stay Longer Next Time

We enjoyed our brief stay at Casa de Mariposa. The home was spotless, and the pool area is very nice. You simply cross the street to the #10 beach access. You have a bit of a walk across the dunes, but this end of the beach is lovely, and quiet compared to the public beach area. It is also an easy 4 block walk or so to the main street of Siesta Key proper. In addition to the outdoor space around the pool (plenty of seating options), there is a 2nd floor balcony with a decent bay view and a 3rd floor balcony with a very nice bay view. The elevator is handy for moving the luggage to the 3rd floor! We were a multi-generational group of 3 adults and 2 teenagers... Everyone was very happy with the location and amenities (especially the teens with the wireless internet). Would love to go back for a week sometime.

We stayed at Casa de Mariposa for a week, and although we did enjoy our stay I do have a couple complaints. First, I think for the amount of money we payed for our one week stay...there should be some newer white linens provided. The towels and washcloths were dingy and old looking as were the bed sheets. It seems like there should be a few more sets available for each room. The shower head in the master bath was not working at full pressure and the shower handle fell off one of the sliding glass doors upon closing on the first day.
Second, we had a lovely WATCHDOG of a neighbor across the street from Mariposa that acted as some sort of street warden!! She actually sat inside her little house and watched our every move!!! She called the police 2 times on us for having a car parked a few inches over the side walk...and called the owner numerous times for other minor things. And whenever she ran into us outside she would actually yell at us from across the street! I am sure we are not the first people to experience her while staying at this house. It was only during the last 2-3 days of our stay, however we found it to be very irritating and felt like the neighbor was stalking us!! We would not stay at this particular house again due to that fact! We have stayed at other houses in Siesta Keys in previous years and have never encountered problems like this. I will say that the owner Bambi was very pleasant to talk to and handled any complaints in a timely manner. But the issue with the neighbor was just very annoying!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your candid review. This review should actually be for #170592(back/2nd unit-not #170576).
We appreciate all your comments and understand your concerns. We request, prefer and suggest in writing that tenants contact us during their stay so we can address any immediate concerns. Linens/towels: we have fresh, additional ones in all closets and in our private locked storage below & replenish per tenant request. Unfortunately, we were not able to fix this during your stay as this had not been brought to our attention. We provide both new towels as well as towels that tenants can use for their tanning products which include bleach & color that frequently stain towels-so we need to have additional supplies on hand. Each unit is also equipped with a washer/dryer for tenant use.
Shower head pressure: Tenants had contacted us about the water pressure and one of their guests had inadvertently turned off the water pressure valve for the entire house. Tenants were advised how to adjust,as this valve is right next to the hose for washing off feet. Nonetheless, we also will be changing the shower head to ensure maximum pressure which we do frequently along with filter changes. Again, we appreciate your feedback but this is the first we were notified , after the departure. We truly apologize for any inconvenience.
The majority of the review is about the "WATCHDOG" neighbor which is out of our control, unfortunately. Siesta Key is a very quaint village with long-term residences within the residential/rental community. This particular neighbor witnessed a pedestrian being killed because they had to walk around a car that was parked on the sidewalk, so she is extremely concerned about cars violating the law. Tenants are notified in writing about police monitoring cars on the sidewalks, as well as Siesta Key police enforcing parking fines. The unit's driveway has enough space for 6 cars(including 2 in the garage) which is more than adequate for the number of guests that should be occupying each unit. We request a maximum of 4 cars and guests should be utilizing local and/or public parking areas. I did contact the tenants to politely inform them so they would avoid a parking fine. It is rather disturbing that you felt stalked and we will be sharing your feedback with this neighbor and local authorities as well.Although, I understand her concerns were for the safety of all visitors on the key, apparently she crossed the line and we apologize.
