I am a long time local resident and Main Street realtor who built this home as a personal residence. I have been sharing it with others as a vacation rental for several years now, but only live a few miles away. Knowing the area as I do, I know how hard it is to find that perfect combination of peace and privacy, wonderful views toward Grandfather Mountain and John's River Gorge and an unusual yet comfortable home. I have tried to provide all the amenities I would wish for myself, and truly welcome your feedback regarding your stay at Treehaven! Gail

The Owner purchased this house in 1995

Treehaven is very special to me and to most who stay there. I have many repeat tenants who celebrate special anniversaries, honeymoons and holidays there year after year. The Rocky Knob area is almost completely surrounded by national forest lands, so development is limited yet it is very close to the village of Blowing Rock and all its restaurants and shopping.

Treehaven is on 5 acres of wooded mountain land, with huge trees surrounding it and a window open for the year round view. There is a small stream below the house that you can hear from the deck and walk to if you are up for a strenuous hike back up the mountain. You see no other homes from Treehaven and have complete privacy with only the sounds of nature. Pisgah National Forest is close by, so wildlife abounds and it would be unusual if you did not see deer every day and many birds including flocks of wild turkeys--a nature lover's paradise!

delightful!

Each year we travel to NC to escape the heat in Dallas and every vrbo rental is a lottery. This time we hit the jackpot. Treehaven is a lovely house in an awesome location up amongst the trees. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would definitely recommend this spot to anyone who wants to stay in a fine house with total privacy and comfort. We liked it so much we think we should move there!!!
Thanks to the owner of Treehaven for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Handcrafted Nature

Property is beautiful. The little intricate details really make this place stand out. My wife and I went and I was able to propose to her with the view of the mountains in the background. The location is close to downtown blowing rock. Planning our next trip for later this year right now.

Serenity in the mountains

  • 5 of 5
Treehaven was the perfect escape from the summer heat and the house and grounds were so much more than we ever expected. We loved everything, and I do mean everything, about our stay. Where we live you can't survive without air conditioning running full tilt from April through October. We did not need to run the AC at Treehaven. To be able to sleep with the windows open and to sit out on the deck in the middle of the afternoon and read a book and enjoy the view of Grandfather Mountain was heaven. We even had own private light show every night after dark when the fireflies lit up the sky and the treescape! Our dog was in heaven too. She loved being able to explore the woods and run up the long private drive. We didn't have to worry about cars and there was no need for a leash. Like the other reviewers, the initial drive to the house can be a bit intimidating......my husband's first reaction was "what have you gotten us into?!" After a few trips in and out to town, it was a breeze though we were happy we never met another car on the single lane road that leads to the house! The estimate of a ten minute drive from the house to Blowing Rock is accurate even though there is major road work being conducted on the highway what provides access to Treehaven and takes you into Blowing Rock. While there can be some short delays, it was never a problem. We thought the road builders did a great job of managing the traffic and they don't work weekends which is nice. We LOVED the privacy, the view, the setting and the house which reminded us of an amazing treehouse in the woods. The kitchen is well equipped for those who want to cook in and Blowing Rock is loaded with a wide variety of exceptional restaurants for those who want to eat lunches or dinner out. We can't wait to return to Treehaven again and, after only one day back home, we are seriously missing the cool, crisp mountain air. Special thanks to Gail for allowing guests to stay in her wonderful home!

Owner's Response: Fran, I am so glad you had a wonderful time at Treehaven and savored our cool mountain weather! Thank you for stopping by the office with your 91 year old mother--it is always fun to meet guests staying at Treehaven. I had to laugh about your husband's remark when first driving in--that one tenth of a mile once you turn off the state road seems awfully long the first time! I built Treehaven in 1995 and could probably count on one hand the times I have encountered another vehicle on Nightingale Lane, so it is a rare occurrence indeed. Treehaven stays so busy with guests I hardly ever get to stay there myself, and I had forgotten about the wonderful lightning bug "fireworks" displays at night. So glad you experienced all that this property has to offer, and hope you can return again soon!

TreeHaven

This home is definately in the tree tops and mimicks a tree house. It is beautifully furnished with lots of extras. The road to the house is rather steep with switchbacks, so a sturdy car is best. Views are beautiful and definately quiet.

Owner's Response: Jacqueline, I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Treehaven! Once in a while, I actually have guests tell me that it is "too quiet" there but then there are always the sounds of nature, just no road noise or loud neighbors! And yes, if it were easier to get into and out of in the winter months, I would live there myself. Most folks have no difficulty whatsoever getting in and out the rest of the year and view those couple of switchbacks as part of the Treehaven adventure! Thank you for your kind comments regarding the furnishings, etc--I do my best to keep everything in tip top shape!

Peaceful haven

Beautiful home with nice amenities. A relaxing getaway that is 10 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock. We spent a lot of time on the porch just enjoying nature. Lots of beautiful art work and sculptures accented the already lovely surroundings. Comfy couches and a beautiful open fireplace to enjoy in the evenings after a soak in the hot tub. We will definitely return!

You will love Treehaven

  • 5 of 5
From start to finish this was a great experience. Communication, location, cleanliness, photos were right on (although the views were even better), comfort, firewood, etc. were all great! I use VRBO several times a year and this place is one of my top picks for the mountains. The directions got us right there, the home was ready for us and Gail even called the home phone to be sure everything was ok. I got back with her the next day and she even helped with a bakery (Stickboy in Boone - a must). We were hiking so it was no problem running over there and Earthfare for a few things before the snow hit. Being "stuck" at the house and property around it (Pisgah Forest) was a great way to spend 24 hours. The beds were comfy and the house warm and the view beautiful. Hiking down the road to the trail was great and the hike up was as well. As others mentioned it is not just a little walk so be aware. The home is clearly loved and was built to be lived in year round which was great as it had everything and felt comfortable. The fireplace and staircase were beautiful. As a person with 3 dogs it was great to work with Gail. I understood her concerns and took care of her home as my own. I have already told many people they need to book her home. It is secluded but close enough to anything you will need. I look forward to returning to her home again and again. Thanks Gail!
