A very comfortable family home, great for kids of all ages. Pool and jacuzzi are now solar heated, 2011. Backyard is great for lounging, swimming, BBQs, and reading, a great entertaining spot. Exterior newly painted, interiors are clean, bright, and 'tropical'. Great for entertaining, the downstairs kitchen is fully equipped. Downstairs cozy living room with fireplace seats 8-10, full dining room seats 8+. Upstairs large family room, 20'X 20', with ping pong table, TV entertainment center, and attached study. Lots of light, bright and cheery. The dining and living room open to the back yard and view the 8 foot deep swimming pool with attached jacuzzi. Newly replastered, this dark bottom pool is chlorine free. You could actually drink the water. Location: near Pine Avenue and Rosecrans Avenue. Three bedrooms upstairs. Two are on the west side looking over the backyard and towards the ocean and beautiful sunsets with queen beds. The master bedroom has a beautiful king bed, with blackout drapery and private bath. You can sleep till noon! Bath has a double-sink counter, soaking tub, large shower, and separate toilet space with door. Glass wall bricks allow for maximum light at all times. The upstairs bathroom was completely remodeled in 12/2013 with beautiful porcelain tile, double sinks, and a great tub/shower. Shower head is 7 feet, with a double handle setting for temperature and water flow.
Downstairs den/bedroom has a double bed off the kitchen area. The downstairs guest bath is a half bath.
Renters are allowed to use four bicycles and rollerblades (size 8 womens and size 10 mens), or walk to the beach down the central jogging path through the west part of town. We are within one hour of most attractions in Los Angeles, but the neighborhood is beach casual with LOTS of fantastic restaurants to choose from. The beach 'Strand' (an eight foot wide cement path) allows walkers and bicyclists or skaters the opportunity to enjoy the beach without the sand, which runs from the base of Palos Verdes to Santa Monica. Beach volleyball is a favorite, even professional tournaments, and fireworks on July 4th.
Come and visit this great vacation spot! Manhattan Beach has everything for a family vacation.
You can't go wrong with this lovely home, priced right.
A retired husband and wife who enjoy traveling. We are both previous educators, husband was a principal with LAUSD, and we enjoy biking, swimming, movies, reading, and life.
Nancy and Pat Donahoe purchased this house in 1992
Very few rental properties in Manhattan Beach have a pool. With a non-chlorine treatment, it is safe for even the youngest swimmers. We came here to enjoy the many family activities that are planned throughout the year, to participate in beach and Strand activities such as volleyball tournaments, and live in a safe community with great schools.
Solar heated pool and Jacuzzi make this home enjoyable inside or out. Restful backyard is great for lounging, entertaining, and reading. The floor plan is comfortable and everyone can find a place for themselves to enjoy.
We stayed in this home in July 2014 for a week and it had enough room for eight adults. It was very well equipped with a large kitchen, separate dining room, two comfortable sitting rooms - the upstairs room had a very large TV with netflix available and a table tennis table. There were plenty of towels, including beach towels, and such amenities as hair dryers, shampoos, washing powder. There was room for both our rental cars on the drive. The younger generation enjoyed swimming in the pool, though it wasn't quite warm enough to tempt all of us! We enjoyed the proximity to the airport, mall (lovely yet economical restaurant called "Islands" is within walking distance) and beach. We enjoyed Universal Studios and Hollywood when we had the cars.
On the downside, we found the layout a bit awkward, mainly because the king sized bedroom has two doors, one which leads to the family room where we all liked to hang out, and the other leads to the two other bedrooms - so it became a corridor of sorts. The main reason we didn't give this a five star rating was because the dishwasher was ineffective in cleaning dishes, yet everyone before us had been using it so all the dishes were dirty when we went to use them. (We mentioned this to Nancy's son who was very helpful and friendly.) We would recommend this house.
I took 3 teenagers to explore the Los Angeles area and this house was a perfect fit. It was everything we needed for a wonderful family time. We walked into town, we enjoyed the beaches, we found amazing restaurants. The pool and jacuzzi were a great way to wind down after busy days in Hollywood or on the beach. We'll be back!!!
We loved this house! It was perfect for our large family. The hot tub, pool and ping pong table were really fun. No complaints! Owners were very responsive.
We LOVED this house for our California vacation! It was even better than it looked online. Everything was well-maintained and clean. We are a family of 6 and there was plenty of space for all of us, plus dinner guests on occasion. The rec room was especially popular - lots of ping pong going on when they weren't in the fabulous pool! The owners were very nice to work with, too! I highly recommend this property!
We had an excellent stay, the house is very big, perfect for a large family, very well placed and especially very good hospitality of the owners: place so quiet !!! perfect
I recommend for every family !!!!
thank you again to pat and Nancy
Manhattan Beach is a fun, athletic town, filled with family activities, the beach, restaurants, parks, and easy access to a multitude of theme parks, Catalina Island, and entertainment venues. Our favorite activity is biking along the Strand, a 10 foot wide cement pathway that runs 22 miles from Santa Monica to Palos Verdes. We usually ride from MB north to Marina del Rey or south to Redondo Beach, and often stop for breakfast along the way. Some favorite restaurants are Scotty's, The Good Stuff, Hennessey's, and Playa in Hermosa Beach. Redondo pier is a mecca for bird watching, including pelicans, seagulls, a heron or two, and lots of local fisherman. The house has 4 bikes which are available, and bike rental is available at Hermosa Cyclery, in the alley off Hermosa pier. Another highlight is the Veteran's Parkway that runs north-south through the west side of town. Once a rail line, it now is a great walking or jogging trail. Walking the Parkway to downtown MB takes about 15 minutes. Only about 5 minutes walk east is the Manhattan Beach Mall, filled with your favorite shops and great restaurants. Across Rosecrans and Sepulveda is also the El Segundo Plaza.
