Almost, but not quite...

We stayed at this house for our first trip to The Cape and didnt know what to expect. The owner was very helpful when booking the house and provided lots of information. However, when we got there the cleaning folks were still there doing laundry so we had to wait to get in. THe house is very nice but it was not as clean as it should be when paying a cleaning fee, including cob webs on the lights and sand on the floor. The house is very nice and the bedrooms are great. We also experienced the problem with the smoke alarms, but the owner did address the issue quickly. We wished there was a gas grill as the description provided and that the backyard was as big as it appeared. The house are very close together. THe beach is a short walk which is great but the beach didnt meet our expectations. It was very very narrow and it is only good at low tide. Also, you have to walk down a rock path and cross over some uneven rocks. We had to pack up and pay to go to another beach. There wasnt even a "landlord" beach pass. Parking on the street gets tricky as this house is on the corner. THe neighborhood is great, very quiet. But the town, Barnstable, leaves something to be desired. We had to drive to do anything really. And we all know about Cape traffic! The market down the street is great though!
I dont know that I would reccommend this property. It really depends what you are looking for. We will be going back to the Cape next year, but we will not be staying at this house. There wasnt much space for the kids to play and I wasnt happy with the cleanliness of the house. And when I tried to address with the owner, I never heard back.
Owner's Response: Hard to please this person.
The previous week's guest left the house a mess and the cleaning crew tried to get things finished but she would not let the cleaning crew finish - then wants to complain about it (the crew has only a 4-hour turn time). Then she complains a beach pass that she could have bought for a few dollars (and I can not buy for her because the license plates will not match). Then complains that the pictures made it "look bigger". Then complains about the walk to the beach - which is a great beach. And then rips the entire town of Barnstable.
I guess you get all types renting from you. Take this one with a grain of salt - or should I say, from the "salty" one.
