Quiet & private unit with fenced yard just steps from the beach. A complete remodel of the unit was completed in the Fall of 06. The fully equipped kitchen and bath feature limestone counters and maple cabinets. Flagstone flooring throughout the unit extends out to the landscaped yard, providing an additional 200 square ft. of living area. Walls of windows and a sliding door open to the yard bordered by palms, ginger and tropical flowers. The tropical/Asian decor is comfortable and uncluttered with room to relax while you watch your favorite shows on the 26' flat screen TV. Enjoy your meals inside or outside. This is the only rental unit in Hono Kai with a fenced yard. Although the unit does not have a beach view the trade off is the view is just steps away and you have the quiet privacy that the beachfront units fronting the common area may not. The unit is bright and airy with two entrances.

Hono Kai is located near the end of Hauoli St., one of only two complexes on the street that have direct beach access, you can walk for miles on Sugar Beach, beach combing or watching for whales or turtles. Go for a swim, snorkel or surf in the clear warm water right in front of the complex or watch the sunrise over dormant 10,023 ft Haleakala About 1/4 mile away (within walking distance) is 'Maalaea Village'. There you will find several wonderful restaurants from casual to 4-Star, and most with ocean or harbor views. The charming 'Harbor Shops' shopping complex features Hula Girl's 'fresh made' Cookies & Ice Cream, an Art gallery, Maui Surf, The Hawaiian Trading Company, Juice Stop, Island Soaps & Candles, Maui Discount Gifts, Moonbow Tropics (Tommy Bahama), Maui's T-Shirts, Aloha wear, The Coffee Shop, Hand Crafted Jewelry, and the Pacific Whale Foundation.

There is also the Maalaea Harbor (one of Maui's main harbors) where boats leave on snorkeling, dinner and sunset cruises. During winter they leave on hourly 'Whale Watching' cruises on Maalaea Bay. Next to the Harbor is the renowned Maui Ocean Center, a world-class Hawaiian aquarium with a clear glass, walk through 'under water tunnel' allowing you to view sharks, manta rays and beautiful tropical fish without getting wet. At the entrance to Maalaea are Carl's Jr., a 76 gas station, and the Maui Golf & Sports Park for guests of all ages. It features two fun and challenging miniature golf courses, a natural 4,000 sq. ft. lagoon with water falls, bumper boats, water blaster guns, rock climbing and an X-Treme Trampoline.

At the beginning of Hauoli St. is the Trade-Winds Mini Mart & Deli. They have freshly made deli sandwiches and a nice selection groceries as well as fresh meats and produce. They also rent movies and snorkeling gear. With all these amenities you are guaranteed a fun, relaxing and memorable vacation.
